Bad blood: John Boehner and his ‘jackass’ tormentor Ted Cruz
Washington Post ^ | 09/28/2015 | Fred Barbash

The date was Oct. 14, 2013, two weeks into a government shutdown engineered by Republicans in the House of Representatives who were trying once again to kill Obamacare. Scheduled for the next day was a vote backed by House Speaker John Boehner and his lieutenants that would have reopened the government and avoided the likely disaster of the U.S. government defaulting on its debt.

The setting was a low-budget eatery on Capitol Hill called the “Tortilla Coast,” not known for its ambiance, as The Post’s Amy Argetsinger described it, but for its “utter lack of ambiance, its “windows bedecked with decals promising ‘MARGARITAS’ and ‘BBQ RIBS.'” It’s the kind of place you go, its manager said, “if you don’t want to look like you’re showing off.”

In a windowless basement garret called the Rio Room, 14 to 20 of the House’s most conservative Republicans gathered around a table presided over by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, still basking in the acclaim from the right for his all-night marathon of a speech weeks earlier designed to thwart any compromise. While Cruz’s exact words that day at Tortilla Coast remain unknown, there was no doubt his mission was to stiffen the spine of no-compromise bloc in the House just as he had galvanized the so-called “hell no” caucus through summer, traveling the country with an anti-Obamacare “town hall,” and in his faux-filibuster, so-called because it did not delay any vote.

And he did, with a lot of help from the conservative Heritage Foundation. The next day, realizing he didn’t have the votes, Boehner and the rest of the House Republican leadership withdrew their proposal.

It was a deep humiliation for Boehner and his leadership team and a final demonstration that he had become a leader without followers. It crippled an already wounded speaker.

Thank you Ted Cruz for finally de-Boehnerizing the Congress!

Boehner’s successor better watch his damn step.

I’d suggest that Boehner be removed immediately and not allow him to wait until late October, he could do a lot of MAJOR damage in one month. Pull the plug on him now, empty his office and set the residual on the door step.....OUT! Do it now.

Boenher deserves no respect. He sheds tears as a self-proclaimed ‘devout’ Catholic in the pope’s presence, and yet he does NOTHING beyond superficial speeches when it comes to PP and late term abortion.

Hypocrite. Save your damn crocodile tears and don’t let the door hit you in the ass, YOU jackass.

Time to flush Mitch and McCain

More than that! They are complicit in helping Traitorobama give aid and comfort to the enemy.

“I’m talking about Boehner. Certainly not talking about Senator Cruz …. I would stack his record of accomplishment against any of these people who are being critical of him. What have they done? Nothing.” -- Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK)

It all depends on what you want to accomplish.

The Speaker wanted to pass budgets and legislation -- Obama's budget and Obama's legislation.

Cruz wanted to unseat the Speaker. As did most of your voters, Tom, ol' buddy, ol' pal.

Heah?

Cruz has been and remains my first choice, but truth be known, without Trump doing what he has done to the race, Boehner would have been there to the end of this current term.

It’s bad but can you imagine how bad it would be without Cruz? There would be virtually no opposition and nothing would have come to light.

The media is painting Boehner as a reasonable guy who is striving to hold back the crazy conservatives so he can work with Democrats on the business of government. Ted Cruz is portrayed as a do nothing bomb thrower who with a few lackeys obstructed “ Responsible Republicans” from working with the Democrats. Saint John did his best but is exhausted from fighting the retards in his party. Ted Cruz is a nut case destroying the way things get done in Washington by insisting that the Republicans actually oppose the Obama agenda.
If the media loves Boehner and hates Cruz then it's not hard to tell who is the real conservative fighting for us. The question not asked and answered in this article was other than who sat in the Speaker's chair what was the difference between Boehner or Pelosi in the way the House was run?
