UNITED NATIONS, Sept 26 (Reuters) - The United Nations high commissioner for refugees said on Saturday the world waited far too long to respond to the refugee crisis sparked by the wars in Syria and elsewhere, though rich countries now appear to understand the scale of the problem.
"Unfortunately only when the poor enter the halls of the rich, do the rich notice that the poor exist," U.N. refugee chief Antonio Guterres told Reuters in an interview on the sidelines of the annual gathering of world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly.
"Until we had this massive movement into Europe, there was no recognition in the developed world of how serious this crisis was," he said. "If, in the past, we had more massive support to those countries in the developing world that have been receiving them and protecting them, this would not have happened."
The sudden arrival in Europe of tens of thousands refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, many abandoning refugee camps in Turkey, Jordan or Lebanon, has stirred sharp disagreement between European Union countries on how to "process" and accommodate them....

Let’s see, does he count himself as one of the “rich”?
German family friends just returned...say germany not safe...for Anyone on the streets..in the big cities and some small towns..day or night....very bad.

It is likely to get a whole lot worse. The Germans could deal with it, if their own government wasn't complicit in the destruction of their own culture. Maybe they just don't want anyone to throw the R word it them. The government probably thinks it is ok to see their culture destroyed, as long as no one calls them racists.
“If, in the past, we had more massive support to those countries in the developing world that have been receiving them and protecting them, this would not have happened.”
How much more support do these seemingly constantly developing countries need? Don’t the governments here in the West send a large amount of financial aid already? Do we allocate the funding to the wrong places/areas or what?
And why are illegal immigrants, migrants, and refugees always assumed to be “poor.” Granted, a rich man would not leave his mansion behind to start over somewhere else but an average what we’d call “middle class” family, wrongly thinking THEY can become, perhaps “upper class” in the West I’m sure are one of those who has one member go and send for the others once he’s “set up.”
Also, single young men who still live with their parents and instead of making their way in their home country might opt to be heading over to Europe because they believe they’ll be fed and sheltered for free yet out from under mom and dad’s roof.
How long until the Volksdeutsche flee to Poland to be safe?
"elsewhere" meaning Libya, Eritrea, Somalia, ....
There are 57 Arab/Muslim countries in the OIC. Lets hear frojm them first. After all, they own 1/4 of the land and population that they’ve forced to convert at the point of a sword. Let’s hear how they’re going to help their fellow members of the Ummah.
Maybe not long. You know, I never dreamed I would live long enough, to ever admire former members of the Warsaw Pact, but they are standing up for their own people, against the Islamic bomb being dropped on Europe. If Charles Martel were alive today, I think he might be a little upset.
Hecky Durn. Please feel safe- over the next few months. We are going to help you, find a home. We adopt stiffs. You know, joking wise.
OK then, let’s call ourselves dirtbags and move on to something else.
The world? Shouldn’t the U.N. have been they first to jump into the breech? If they didn’t foresee thus problem, how could they expect others to?
There are plenty of Muslim countries that can take them in.
The place to help the world’s poor is in their country, not hours. Most people are poor because their values lead them there. We would have to work to change their values to help them stop being poor.
isis had warned Europe this was coming.

They were living in Turkey (many still are), Jordan, and even fleeing to Lebanon. Afghans have fled the continual fighting in Afghanistan -- a direct consequence of Zero's having imposed anti-military ROEs -- only to be press-ganged into service by Iran, which regime was trying to avoid body-bag syndrome over their four year long intervention in Syria.
Muslims live in hellholes because that’s what their cultural ideas create.
