"Then say hello to Sharia Law dipshit"

Big'ol, please accept my apology for butting in...but...

Is it your contention that US Troops need to be in Syria?

If so, is it to eliminate the Islamic state, fill a Vacuum...or to prevent Russia?

I ask because I believe all are legitimate interests.

However, I think Americans are tired and would like to sit one out, catch up later.

Trump’s position makes MUCH MORE SENSE than our current policy...which I challenge ANYONE HERE to explain.

As best that I can see, Obama sees 3 sides in Syria: Assad, ISIS, and a handful of college kids that call themselves the “Democratic Opposition” and promise to create a Jeffersonian Democracy.

Since we hate ISIS, we are bombing them. But we also hate Assad, so we’re not helping him (i.e., not coordinating military operations with him) as we want him to also lose.

So we want ISIS and Assad to BOTH LOSE, and with that the handful of college kids march into Damascus, build a replica of the Washington Monument, and all sides live in peace and love for ever more.

That’s my take and why Putin simply siding with Assad makes A LOT MORE SENSE TO ME...but I’m willing to listen to others, if they think they can explain our policy there.

If I were Putin, after beating them badly, I'd meet with them and offer them a truce they couldn't refuse.

I hope you are right but it would not surprise if Putin did this.

Russia lost 100,000 men after they invaded Afghanistan...

You bring up a really, really good point. In this bizarro world, I'm actually rooting for the Russians. But they have not been very successful in the past. Will their latest adventure be any different?

He’s right.

Obama has created chaos in the Mideast - Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Syria have been turned on their heads. I have no idea what his policy on ISIS is. With him in charge, calling for intervention is absolutely nuts.

Assad is the least bad option there is. If the Russians want to fight ISIS with their own troops, let them.

He did say he would send troops on the ground to fight ISIS in Iraq.

Dude. I believe you're precisely correct in this matter.

We can't handle another Egypt, Libya Iraq or Afghanistan.

At this point, our objectives need to be centered on Stability and Order.

We can get around to fixing the world, again, in 2024 or so.

Isn't it about time we let someone else go to war for a change? Haven't we funded and refunded enough wars? Haven't we lost enough people in wars?

If Russia wants to eliminate ISIS, let them...but do we always have to be the one to go in and fight?

We went in after 9/11 and look at that mess today..how has that worked out for us? Look at the wounded warriors we have, the vets with ptsd, and everything else...

It's time we take care of America, or your going to wake up some morning and there isn't going to be an America!

To take the oil wells. Doesn’t mean he will. He has to get in office to really find out what’s going on in the world. That is if the zero administration doesn’t erase classified information. I’ll bet their records are a huge mess. I sure wouldn’t want to be president and have to clean up the mess obama has made.

They are simply there to keep their ally Syria from falling. The Russians are not good at strategy in advancing their interests. In this case, let them fight ISIS to their loss if they lose, and the West’s gain if they win, with one caveat, this will not end well for them either way. Let them spend their resources, not ours, but then again, this could be only a temporary measure, they will leave when their losses mount, they are already in poor economic straights. See Ezekiel and Revelation.

Obama has created chaos in the Mideast - Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Syria have been turned on their heads.

True that. But Bush II also played a huge role in this debacle. Bush naively believed that once he removed a dictator (Saddam) the Arab street would rush to embrace democracy, much like a Vermont farmer would have after the Revolutionary war.

That was more than just naive. It was irresponsible, and it has lead to much of the chaos we see today.

I will now retreat to my underground bunker, as I'm sure I'll be getting incoming fire from W's apologists.

See Ezekiel and Revelation.

It's chilling. Who would have thought, ten years ago, that Russian combat troops would be in Syria? No one. Yet there they are, soon to be joined (if reports are true) by Chinese combat troops.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall at this meeting.

http://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2015/09/27/putin-criticizes-us-policy-in-syria-ahead-of-obama-meeting

Remember Obama’s infantile comments to Putin about Syria. What an embarrassment!

And this Snowden debacle? (ignore the title)

Many of Obama’s out-of-control disasters would not have happened if GWB hadn’t gotten the ball rolling. GWB was pretty good at the “aw shucks” routine. Get past that and you’ve got an enabler of the global elite.

W was indeed naïve as he demonstrated by praising Islam as a peaceful religion. W did not understand the deep roots of culture. He thought everyone was an American at heart.

Excellent post. I agree 100%. W protected the homeland after 9/11, but he was a disaster otherwise. He did not learn from LBJ's mistakes. In fact, W repeated those mistakes almost exactly.

And we will eventually see evacuation helicopters take off from the roof of the US embassy in Kabul, just as in Saigon.

One can only hope that future presidents get the message. But I doubt it. They all want to be great movers and shakers.

I am not an appologist. But you and grania are idiots.

The Iraq war was won by the end of 2008. Bush handed over a quiet Mid East the January of 2009. Gaddafi had handed over his unknown nuclear plans, Iran was hiding behind the Shia of Iraq, there was no ISIS, there was no Iraq Al Qaida, etc. Yet you two bozos blame Bush for Obama’s EPIC FAILURES. Obama is in office for almost seven years. Yet, there mental midgets here on FR who blame Bush 2 for Obama’s epic failures.

YOU MAKE ME SICK.

Besides why should Russia better more successful in Syria than they were in Afghanistan?

Easier terrain? Is Putin's military maybe better than the old Soviet one?
