First women to pass Ranger School were given extra training and lowered benchmarks after General vow

The first two women to graduate from Ranger School have had their elite status questioned amid claims that Army officials vowed to pass at least one of them before the course even started. Back in January a general is claimed to have told his subordinates that 'a woman will graduate Ranger School' this year, as part of the first ever class to include serving female soldiers. The general, who has not been named, reportedly added: 'At least one will get through', according to People. In August, Capt Shaye Haver and First Lt Kristen Griest became the first two women to graduate from the school, having taken four months to pass all the tests.

A lot of guys can’t make the cut. It’s hard for me to picture women making it, and I’m not seeking to belittle women.

I not convinced I could have cut it.

It’s a grueling effort.

We have had outcome-based education. Now we have an outcome-based military.

My comments on the thread covering the original People magazine article:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3341380/posts?page=33#33

This sort of thing will continue until we put a stop to the politicians who are benefiting from this nonsense.

I thought it was a lie from the very beginning. Our Military leaders answer to "Die Fhurer" (misuse of gender adjective is intentional) and so they will do whatever he tells them to do whether it hurts the force or not.

Surprise, Surprise Surprise! Is anyone really surprised?

Women are not men. Men are not women.

Even women that want to be men (Chaz Bono) and men that want to be women (Caitlin Jenner) Are still just surgically mutilated women and men.

No amount of political correctness or desire by women to change reality will change that reality. Women are poorly suited both physically and emotionally for most aspects of military life and particularly unsuited for combat.

The inclusion of women into the armed forces has not made us a better prepared or increased operational military effectiveness. The inclusion of women in combat and close combat roles, particularly special forces rolls will not increase combat effectiveness but lower it and put others as well as whole missions in danger.

Same holds true for homosexuals and cross dressing freaks.

I heard a slightly but significantly different version from several sources, including a skeptical and non-political officer at Ranger School. My understanding is that the women were selected as the most qualified and fit women in the Army, so they may not be representative of how the average Army woman might perform, and that they were given extra training before arriving there, just as many men have received extra training or time off for training to prepare for Ranger School. They were, however, measured against the same benchmarks as everyone else once they were physically at Ranger School, including when recycled.

Based on first-person sources that I will not identify in more detail, I believe that their Ranger tabs are legit. I just hope the Army continues to uphold Ranger standards for women who are not in the “first class of women”.

“Obama is going to have his photo-op. That’s an order!”

“Yes, Sir!”

We need to purge the entire general staff and start over.

So that was politicized too. What happens when the lowered-standard chicks have to meet a real challenge?

The men cover for them, meet the challenges and put themselves in danger.

I learned in junior high that if you want acceptance and respect from your peers, it has to be earned; it cannot be mandated. Some are incapable of learning that stark truth.

We have had outcome-based education. Now we have an outcome-based military.

This is nothing new for the military. Whether it be personnel related or equipment trials. I have seen it many a times in operational equipment tests, where the chain of command says before it even starts, that "this test will succeed" or something to that effect. And sure enough, even with gross failures during the test, it will get published as a success. Predetermined outcomes is the military norms, no surprises.
