Immigration agents allowed back in L.A. County jails, with limits ("The Trump Effect")
LA Times ^

Months after the Board of Supervisors moved to limit the practice, Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell has authorized federal agents to operate inside jails to look for deportable inmates, saying that the new procedures “appropriately balance” public safety needs and the concerns of immigrant communities.

Some experts praised McDonnell's new policy, which allows immigration agents to target serious or violent criminals who are about to be released. But immigrant rights advocates accused him of bowing to political pressure escalated by the fatal shooting in July of a woman in San Francisco — allegedly by a man who was in the country illegally and had recently been released from local custody.

“It appears the ‘Trump Effect' is now having an impact on Los Angeles County policy,” said Pablo Alvarado, director of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, who said the new policy “appears politically motivated and impacted by sensationalized tragedy.”

“Immigrant community?” My arse. It’s called “illegal alien invasion units” or Organized crime cells.

Immigrant communities are groups of legal immigrants in a given area. Big difference.

We really need another HUAC to get communists and America hating liberals out of government and in jail for sedition/treason.

No. Not Trump effect alone. It is yhe fact that the Court upheld Arizona ARS1070 provision which allows the same.

"Sensationalized tragedy" the illegal alien advocate says.

It happens all the time, sir. All the time.

If this was America of the 1800s, we'd already have sent the US Army down to Mexico to slap their capitol around again.

I regard violently criminal illegal aliens as nothing more than sombrero-wearing bandidos festooned with crossed rifle cartridge belts across their chests. They ought to be treated accordingly.

“...accused him of bowing to political pressure...” to obey the law!

Isn’t it more likely that California law makers have been bowing to political pressure to ignore the law leaving the citizens (not the invaders) worse off?

He’s taking the trash to the board room and throwing it straight out of the window. GO TRUMP!

This is a guy that deals with this daily. I’m fairly sure he knows exactly why this is taking place. If he’s laying it at Trump’s feet, that’s more than good enough for me.

Yet another radical Hispanic that wants violent illegal aliens to not only stay in the US but be released from jail.

Of course he is.

Union? Of course!

Hispanic? Certainly!

You honestly think the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department would voluntarily reinstate this program without a tsunami of public opinion against criminal illegal alien rights?

Who created that tsunami? An Arizona ruling hardly anyone has heard of, or the bullhorn of Trump trashing San Francisco and making it clear these sanctuary programs are going to lead to massive financial payouts?

You’re kidding yourself IMO.

Until Trump, you couldn’t get these people to listen to a 10,000,000 signature petition.

Now, “Oh yes, we’ll get on that right away, in fact we restarted that program all on our own.”

Trump is having an impact—words mean things. Trump has managed to get the army of the public to take notice. He says he needs a Patton—I contend that Trump is Patton.

AmiHow, I probably came off too forceful there.

I meant to argue my point, but I did not mean to give you a hard time. Sorry if it came off that way.

Not having lived through the Patton years, and realizing he was well respected top level General and leader of our Pacific campaign off and on, I find it hard to compare the two to the satisfaction of those who did live through those years.

Trump seems very focused and dedicated to achieving his goal. I believe that is Patton like. He has thought this out and has a game plan. I believe that is Patton like. He is a leader. Others may not always respect his views, but I think they realize instinctively that he is bigger than life, and he can get things done.

We see evidence of him achieving things we have only dreamed of achieving in the past. He holds his own and more with the press. Policies around this nation are drifting back in our direction. Just this morning it was announced the LASO has allowed federal officials back into their jails to assess inmates for deportation.

FoxNews will hold talks with Trump to resolve issues.

The most Leftist cable news outlets, are airing spots with Trump and his agenda. Their round tables discuss him. He gets fairly reasoned coverage there.

When this happens, the Leftist agenda isn’t talked about. Folks, that’s a move Right.

So the idea that there isn’t something Patton-like about Trump is a flawed one.

I agree with you. For the private sector, Trump is like Patton in at least some ways.

Everyone is afraid of him. In other words, everyone has respect for him. They recognize him as a formidable force. You like him or you don’t, but you don’t dismiss his potential for impact. That is respect.

Once again, we live in interesting times.

Do you SERIOUSLY THINK that Los Angeles would give a flying crap as to what Arizona is allowed to do.

Of course it’s the Trump Effect - NO ONE wants to be NEXT PERSON to have to explain to a grieving family, or worse, the media, why it’s more important to let Americans be killed than it is to help send felons back to their home countries.
