Rick Santorum accuses Ted Cruz of supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants
washington times ^ | 9/25/2015 | Seth McLaughlin

Posted on 09/25/2015 9:47:22 AM PDT by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum vowed Friday to pursue immigration policies that protect American workers, while warning voters that some of his GOP rivals have embraced a much softer approach to the issue. Mr. Santorum, the runner-up in the 2012 Republican nomination battle, urged the crowd that converged on a hotel in Washington, D.C., for the annual Values Voter Summit to recognize that a couple of the speakers before him — Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz — have previously supported “amnesty” for illegal immigrants. “You have a lot of people that come up here and talk about how tough they are, but they actually support amnesty. The speaker just before me running for president, he will tell you how tough he is,” Mr. Santorum said, alluding to Mr. Cruz. “He offered an amendment to allow people to stay in this country indefinitely. To me, that is amnesty.” Mr. Santorum has struggled to gain a foothold in national polling and is running near the back of the pack. With that as a backdrop, the 57-year-old has staked a lot in the immigration debate. He also has touted the conservative record he compiled in Congress, including authoring legislation aimed at changing the leadership of the Iranian government. Mr. Santorum served in the House from 1991 to 1995 and in the Senate from 1995 to 2007 when he lost his re-election bid to Democrat Bob Casey Jr. by a 59 percent to 41 percent margin.

You apparently cannot understand the distinct difference between an emergency increase in H1-B visas for critical, high-demand positions that need to be filled now vs run-of-the-mill tech and customer service jobs that Silicon Valley and Microsoft has been exploiting for years.

Do I need to break out a coloring book to explain it to you or something?

Not even close.

Cruz’s record on immigration:

Cruz wants to deport DREAMers:
http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5792886

In 2012 Cruz even said Romney was too soft on the issue and that Romney should back deportation.

On Gang of 8:
Ted Cruz’s amendment 3, which “would prohibit anyone who had been undocumented for any period of time ever from becoming a United States citizen in the future.

Not “once your deported, if you come back legally, it’s all ok.” Not “hey you’re not a criminal, really, so here’s your papers.” Not “you are just doing the jobs no one else will do”.

NO citizenship EVER.

I support Cruz but H1Bs not at all

Get the facts. Cruz's support of H1-B visas are not what you think it is. I also jerked my knee, thinking that Cruz was selling out America, but it has nothing to do with blue-collar type tech jobs.

Mainly because one or two get practically ALL the media coverage.

And yeah, a guy like Trump does know how to utilize that to his advantage.

You apparently cannot understand the distinct difference between an emergency increase in H1-B visas for critical, high-demand positions that need to be filled now because we do not want to pay prevailing wages for an American.

There, fixed it for you.

Wow, how'd you do that with the font?

That doesn't validate your point, unfortunately.

Yeah, but he wants to give amnesty to illegals here currently. By law, they should be sent home and not eligible for reentery, let alone work permits—but Cruz would legalize them.

That is what amnesty is—forgiving a violation such that the regular punishment is not applied.

(And, though Cruz might not favor citizenship for them, citizenship would be sure to follow.)

Except for DREAMers, oh and felons, oh and the parents of anchor babies, oh and people who have been deported after being here illegally...

Oh whoops it looks like he DOESN’T support amnesty after all. Read the links.

Supporting amnesty for the majority of illegals is supporting amnesty.

There isn’t a single job in the entire country that can’t be filled for the right price, but you go begging to uncle sugar to import foreigners and short circuit the job market of your fellow Americans, there is a world I’m searching for... hmmm TRAITOR! That’s it!

Once again, he’s not and never has. But you go ahead and cling to that belief, as I see that all of the evidence in the world is going to sway you.

You are lying. Cruz would legalize many of the illegals here currently. That is amnesty.

Cruz's support for increasing H1-B visas are targeted at critical, high-level skills jobs

Then Trump's plan for a minimum salary for H-1Bs would fit perfectly; has Cruz endorsed this?

There isn’t a single job in the entire country that can’t be filled for the right price

What part of "shortage" do you not understand?

You can offer a $1 million salary loaded with perks, and you're still not going to find the capacity within America among Americans to fill up the critical positions that need to be filled.

but you go begging to uncle sugar to import foreigners and short circuit the job market of your fellow American

Cruz's plan does not do this. In fact, it cracks down on it. He is NOT allowing Silicon Valley and Microsoft from hiring Apu and his relatives from India to come here and take regular tech and customer service jobs from Americans, while Americans train them.

Cruz's proposed increase is targeted at high-level, critical jobs in science, nuclear physics, engineering, and medicine that our public education system took a crap on years ago.

One of the greatest assets of Cruz is that he is a long-term planner. He is already 10 years and 100 steps ahead of his competitors. He would boost incentives to fill the critical positions now and break up the leftist indoctrination cartel in the education monopoly so the market can allow the next generation of students to pursue the fields that will remain in high-demand, so there wouldn't be a need for the H1-B visa program.

I’m not sure. But I know that Cruz’s H1-B plan does not create a glut of foreigners who come here and will take over mundane, ordinary tech jobs that Americans are doing.

That demand and capacity does not exist within the U.S., I'm trying to tell you. If it did, Cruz wouldn't be proposing his plan.

Because college kids want to learn about transgender studies and evil white racism rather than pursuing fields that will earn them guaranteed six figures.
