Donald Trump is in an all-out attack against a surging new rival — and he just fired back

Real-estate developer Donald Trump is now frequently attacking a presidential rival he mostly refrained from criticizing in the past: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida).

During a Thursday morning CNN interview, Trump hit Rubio as a "kid" in a wide-ranging critique.

He first bashed Rubio's credibility as a foreign-policy wonk when asked to compare their knowledge about Syria.

"Marco Rubio sits behind a desk sometimes and he reads stuff," Trump said, according to CNN's transcript. "That's all he does. I create jobs all day long. I'll know more about all of this than all of them put together and believe me, we'll have a winning strategy. If Marco Rubio is good, how come we're doing so badly?"

Trump went on to dismiss the 44-year-old senator's age.

"These guys don't know how to win," he said. "Marco Rubio, he's like a kid. He shouldn't even be running in this race, as far as I'm concerned. He's a kid."

Later in the interview, Trump again called Rubio a "kid" and criticized him for not deferring his candidacy to Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor.

"He's a kid. He has no right — I mean, frankly, he was very disloyal to Bush," Trump said. "Bush was his mentor. And everyone said he'd never run because Bush was his mentor. Well, the fact that Bush was his mentor didn't stop this young guy who is overly ambitious from wanting to run. Now Bush looks foolish and he looks like he's a very disloyal guy, frankly."

Earlier in the day during a "Morning Joe" interview, Trump also mocked Rubio for perspiring during last week's presidential debate.

“I’m growing weary of his rough insults.”

But it is okay for him to be insulted? How are Rubio’s insults on a higher plane? There are a number of posters on this site who start out with the same “I am/was such a strong Trump supporter.” The descriptive “strong” gives you away.

” How’d that judgment work out in light of subsequent events?”

Crist is a Republican. Crist would have been the winning choice. Crist won. Judgment was sound for that particular race. And, no, I am not a Crist supporter. Nor a billionaire looking to do business in New Jersey.

I trust Trump a lot more then I do any of the GOP phonies!

Even Cruz sold us out by supporting the Obama free trade deal!

We have to deal with the context of the candidates we have to choose from-Trump is the best.

Even Reagan 'swerved to the Left' on some issues.

“I’m sure Trump’s supporters will jump right in line like they did when he made positive remarks about Planned Parenthood.”

I can wait in line behind you while you justify your boy’s support for amnesty and betrayal of the Tea Party that got the idiot elected.

I thought the disgraced tapir from HP was "surging." I wish they'd make up their minds.

OF all the GOPe candidates, Mark Ruby is not the absolute, rock bottom worst. Still, he's a fag-hag for the CoC.

Pragmatism is not allow on this forum! Kidding aside if I had to choose today, it would be Cruz. Trump close second.

“Actually he as offered more specifics than any of the other candidates.

You just refuse to listen or acknowledge.”

Correct. I can’t figure out if these people are just so suggestible, because they repeat it like a bunch of lemmings, or are just trying to smear, vainly hoping it will have an impact. I know for sure that a few know they are lying.

“What’s the point of having the power if you’re not going to use it for the betterment of the country? Just to line their pockets?”

Just heard Newt say on Hannity; if all the Congress wants to work on is what Obama wants, then why have a legislature.

Don't think I said anywhere that Fiorina was like-able. Believe you thought I said this here, but that I didn't.

Agree with you to an extent on the nice guy angle. Here is how I feel on it. Romney seemed to want to take the high road in the second debate with Obama after everyone was saying he had done well in the first debate. I believe that was a mistake and a big one. I don't want to see a candidate doing that in the end. A candidate has to get in the ring on the debate.

Tyson when he wanted to become champ would fight like every month. Most champions defend the title once a year.

Don't think Trump wants to take on 16 other candidates and the entire media every second of every day. He has to pick his spots some. He can stay tough and pick his spots. Conserve some energy for the long run.

doesn’t justify stupidity or blind loyalty? May explain it, doesn’t justify it.

when he veers left, remember you were WARNED. Then you can REALLY REALLY BE MAD.

“I want to hear in-depth substance from the Donald’s own mouth, demonstrating that he can think and speak on his feet in a serious interchange of ideas, and showing that he has a grasp of all the major issues.”

I have heard Trump address major issues, like immigration, repairing trade agreements, etc. Which reminds me, can you give us a name of a particular candidate that has done as you demand of Trump. You can skip the debates because they are formatted to prevent those kinds of responses.

Saving a country is worth a billion insults. The GOPe and their buds who are all in with the globalist agenda do not deserve our support.

Buck up and get trumped up to squash then down. They deserve it!

Rubio speaks from memorized bullet points. You can notice that by the way he holds his eyes when he reeling them off. So does Fiorina.

I have heard just about all the Republican candidates speak with more depth and substance on issues than I have heard Trump speak. (Well, I can’t say that about Gilmore, since I have not heard him speak at all.) Ted Cruz, in particular, stands out in his depth as a cogent constitutional conservative.

So you’re surrounded and taking fire up close, but you should concentrate you’re fire a 100 miles off?

Um sure, get yourself killed before you can even advance on the other guys.

I’ve heard him go after the witch. Sanders, I don’t recall if he has - yet.

What I said was Trump should beat Fiorina on like-ability. Didn’t say there that Fiorina was like-able.
