You forgot that they occasionally try to claim the Falklands as a tactic to divert public attention from failed government policies.

Argentina is a country run by latin versions of Alinsky, Obama and Rev. Wright.

Argentina is living in the shadow of a once great economy and promise of an emerging nation. Unfortunately, that time was over 100 years ago. Agentina's collective ego is unmeasurable. There is a joke in LATAM, you can make a lot of money by buying an Argentinean for what he is worth and then selling him for what he thinks he is worth.

This is a country that still thinks it has a legitimate claim to the Falkland Island and claims territory rights on part of Antarctica. A county that thinks because junk investor bought it sovereign debt at a discount, the "Vulture Capitalist" owe it to Argentina to take a huge discount. A Spanish speaking country that thinks its accent is correct and all other Spanish speaking countries are wrong.

The Perons’ heyday was only a decade or so. Evita died in 1952 & Juan didn’t last long after that. But they managed to upend an entire economic structure & create a permanent gibsmedat class, the “descamisados”.

A century ago a wealthy person here was called “as rich as an Argentine”. Argentina sailed through the 1930’s untouched by the world depression. Then a certain army colonel with a brand new portfolio as minister of labor decided he’d use that to build a voter base out of those previously disenfranchised. Union leaders became his lieutenants & the “descamisados” voted purely their pocketbooks.

And so the slide into bleak social democracy began. Hyperinflation is a regular occurence in Argentina now.

Don’t cry for us, Argentina,
At least we’ve got toilet paper...
