Fox’s Roger Ailes to Sit Down with Donald Trump to Discuss Coverage
Mediaite ^ | September 24th, 2015 | Alex Griswold

Posted on 09/24/2015 11:03:59 AM PDT by monkapotamus

Only a day after Donald Trump announced that he was boycotting Fox News— and after Fox News announced they had cancelled him first– the network has announced that they will enter talks with Trump to discuss his concerns.

Below is the full statement, provided to Mediaite by a Fox News spokesperson:

Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes and Donald Trump spoke this morning and plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox’s coverage of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign. Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives. Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. FOX News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage. We believe a candid meeting about our differences is required and that any misunderstandings can be handled without compromising those standards.

Trump is typically worth an extra 400,000 viewers when he appears on the O’Reilly Factor. An extra 200,000 viewers on Greta show. He should continue to boycott.

Maybe they outsourced that PR job to India or China.

Acting like Boehner and McConnell - talk tough, then cave like a house of cards.

Along with fear of losing the Trump affect (high ratings) the team that manages social media for Fox started hearing how much people are getting PO’d at them.

I think this demonstrates yet again that Trump knows how to execute.

Trump is ruining his chances with his constant whining and insults.

LOL - you're kidding, right? Trump's AT THE TOP of the polls. It's Jeb who's at 6% - what 'advice' do you have for Jeb?

"I’m blown away by everyone who continues to defend the thin skinned Trump. If someone calls him a name or says something derogatory about him, he goes on a rant. Trump is ruining his chances with his constant whining and insults.
He’d do himself a favor by ignoring critics and giving us more detailed plans for making our country great again. Stop with the childish behavior! If he becomes POTUS, he’ll get LOTS of criticism and so far he’s demonstrating he can’t handle any."

As I've been trying to point out.

Imagine if he becomes President Trump and Fox is cut out of the loop. It would be a catastrophe for the cable network.

You are missing the impact of negative publicity. When Trump is attacked he fights back with excessive force, driving his critics into the ground. This is precisely how he remains on top.

FOX must have immediately seen their ratings tank. I also bet Hannity and Greta said something.

Trump should let them be for awhile and leave this alone.

Well, if he gets them to turn things around, perhaps it’s best to go back. That way they fear losing him again.

He stays gone, they can just get even worse.

He is showing how much support he has, I bet their ratings are rapidly going down, if it wasn't they wouldn't be asking for a meeting...

This also shows the other networks this could happen to them and they are already in the tank, so it could wipe them out...

But I would advise Trump to let them stew a little longer...Hannity can talk to Trump on his radio show, and there are other stations that would love Trump to be on their network, and bring some $$ support with him...

Noise makes news for Fox and Trump.

Not sure you know what a rant is.

Trump has presented more ideas and promoted more pro-America issues than every other candidate combined save for Cruz.

I assume your favorite hasn’t run out of money yet. Yet. lol

You should perhaps consider that his rants (or, to use another term, counterpunching) are exactly the reason why Trump is so successful.

He’s like the big kid on the block who gets fed up and decides to put the bullies in their places. Earning himself the cheers and loyalties of those who were bullied.

He was on Morning Joe for 15 minutes this AM and CNN for almost 30 minutes. I’m sure Fox and Friends will take a big hit when the numbers are in and that’s why Ailes is panicking. Fox and Friends can be shut out completely.
