“We know that ultimately such tactics failed miserably and that archdioceses across the country and around the world have either lost or settled lawsuits that might bankrupt a major corporation — over $700 million in damages in Los Angeles alone.”

The issue of child rape by the thousands throughout the world by the catholic priesthood begs this ultimate question. When Parishioners give money ostensibly “to God” ,are they not paying their money to assuage children ravaged by sexually abused? Why would anyone of sound mind give these guys money?

The only difference between the Pope and everyone else in that room is the clown costume.

If he considers islam so dangerous why is he advocating the west taking so many of them in ?

The truth is he doesn’t see islam as an enemy

He does see bible believing Christians as an enemy

Why doesn’t Francis lead the way by telling his churches in America to start paying taxes?

GE, Time Warner, Prudential, and Qualcomm are a couple of Fortune 500 companies that don't pay taxes. What's good for them should be good for the church as well.

>> I was writing my Congressman to see if Joel Osteen or James Dobson could come speak to a joint session of Congress and tie the traffic up for 4 days with protestants flooding the streets. <<

Osteen avoids political issues like the plague and talks about touchy-feely stuff that his dopey followers eat up, so having him address Congress would be pointless. Those who like hearing self-help "enpowerment" speeches would tune in, though.

Dobson isn't even a minister, he's a psychologist, radio talk show host and author. It would more akin to having Mark Levin address Congress. However, in both cases, I think their supporters WOULD tie up traffic for 4 days if Dobson or Levin was going to give a joint address to Congress.

A more apt protestant equivalent to the Pope would be Billy Graham his heyday. In fact, he's more akin to Pope John Paul II than Francis in that Graham was deeply revered and respected by non-protestant Christians. He absolutely would have gotten that kind of treatment if he addressed Congress.

There are a lot of Catholic individuals and organizations that give much time and treasure working to help those that are less able and fortunate than them.

Paying more taxes to the government is not the answer to helping anyone is it?

He said “all stages of development” then launched into a lengthy denunciation of the death penalty. Nothing about the unborn.

What does the Pope have to say about victims such as Kate Steinle?

What does the Pope have to say about pedophilia inside his priesthood?

What does the Pope have to say about the scientific misconduct and fraud that took place inside the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit?

The Pope is not infallible when he ventures into the area of politics.

I think the future with respect to this Pope is that he will be ignored. I say that sorrowfully. I will pray that our Lord fills his mind with wisdom as he does his heart with compassion.

>> Listen, Mr. Dope: Most of us decided hundreds of years ago we don’t answer to Catholic Popes. You’re opinion carries no weight with most of us. So thanks for dropping by and all and don’t let the door hit ya....... <<

Listen, Dopey TTFlyer,

There are 1.1 billion Catholics in the world. There are about 500-600 million protestants. That means MOST of us Christians in the world DO answer to Catholic Popes. The minority of you whining about it and PRETENDING you are "most" of Christianity (or, often, pretending born again evangelical protestants represent ALL of Christianity when you're not even a majority of protestants!) won't change that statistic.

Maybe someone would care what the other 30,000 denominations have to say if you could agree on ANYTHING besides the Pope and Catholic Church is wrong. Come up with a unified statement and then you can tell the the world listen to you.

“Got to remember that the Catholic Church is the LARGEST of the Christian Churches.”
That would be difficult to do because it is not true, 25.4% are evangelical Christians in the UNITED STATES. only 20.8% are Catholic members.

What about compassion for Americans? What if our infrastructure will not support hundreds of millions of backwards foreigners who don't have the sense to put their soiled toilet paper in the toilet, but insist on throwing it on the floor?

According to morons like francis only the elite (and, he's definitely in that class) should be entitled to a decent life. The rest of us must be consigned to live like animals.

No thanks.

I listen to God and live by His Holy Word, not the pope especially when he is too liberal to say that abortion and homosexuality is SIN in the Eyes of god.

When did he say they were not? In his address he spoke of the sanctity of human life and all levels of development, which was an opposition to abortion that got drowned out in the haste to condemn him for his opposition to capitol punishment. An position that the church has had for many, many years by the way. He also spoke of his concerns on how marriage is threatened as never before. An obvious reference to both gay marriage and also wide-spread divorce. So I believe that he touched on both your subjects. You just needed to read what he had to say.

That’s good he said those things. I listened to his speech very briefly as I had to get back to work. I just wish someone would come right out and say those things are sin.

The largest faith based unit in the United States in the evangelical protestants (25.4%) vs the catholic organization espousing only 20.8% 0f UNITED STATES population. Why are we not doing joint sessions of Congress and shutting down traffic for heads of this faith unit?
