Follow the money. Catholic charities are given large amounts of money by the USG to resettle immigrants and refugees.

My husband only counted 4 justices there. I don’t know because I was listening to it at a distance while at the computer.

He handled it quite wel, and gave a a politically neutral speech,

LOL. Get serious. He is a leftist who had no problem getting specific when it comes to climate change and immigration. He has a problem mentioning the words abortion and gay marriage. We have to divine what he means when it comes to these issues. Nor does he mention the religious cleansing of Christians in the Middle East.

The Pope is a leftist political hack who toadies up to dictators like Castro but has no compunction in attacking America, the most welcoming and generous country in history. We have 42.5 million foreign born in the US, equal to the population of Argentina.

This Argentinian Pope comes from one of the least diverse places in the world:

Religion: nominally Roman Catholic 92% (less than 20% practicing), Protestant 2%, Jewish 2%, other 4%

Ethnic groups: white (mostly Spanish and Italian) 97%, mestizo (mixed white and Amerindian ancestry), Amerindian, or other non-white groups 3%.

Well, there certainly are a couple of Pollyannas about this Pope here at FR. I’m going to try to tune them out rather than losing my temper at them!

If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s ignorance about the history of science and the Catholic Church. All anyone knows about is Galileo not the hundreds of priests and Catholics who worked hand and glove with the Church over the centuries to expand our knowledge of the universe. Throw in the Catholic achievements in art and you have one of the most dynamic examples of western civilization.

Just because this Pope is a scientific boob does not negate all the achievements of the past.

On the Pope speaking to Congress.....where's the Liberal hypocrites outcry of separation of church and state????....until of course, the message helps spread their distorted view of what the world should be...And the Pope isn't any better IMO...

...only 22% of the US population is Catholic and that's dropping... the other 78% don't care what he says or thinks......He's got the nerve to lecture our congress when his own house is so out of order and full of corruption and sin.

All this is is Obamas way to play show and tell that the Pope agrees with his agenda.....what a complete circus!

Is he ever!......and worse he aligns with Obamo who is milking this show for all it’s worth....Heck even that little girl who they lifted for the Pope to kiss while in route was all staged......I got proof!

He's essentially endorsed and downright validated the Rule of Man. Unfreaking believable. Blows my mind. I thought something was up when the usual suspects in politics, the media and academia quit attacking and went quiet, some singing his praises. Not good - not good at all.

“didn’t the Vatican have a route to smuggle Nazis out of Europe to South America?”

Ever heard of the Gehlen Organization?

“This Argentinian Pope comes from one of the least diverse places in the world:”

Diversity is where nations go to die.

“Ethnic groups: white (mostly Spanish and Italian) 97%, mestizo (mixed white and Amerindian ancestry), Amerindian, or other non-white groups 3%.”

Doesn’t their substantial German population make them more “diverse,” or is it only melanin that counts?

Bingo - the Catholic Church was an ardent supporter of Nazi escape to S America especially Argentina. We only need to read the Eichmann story to learn how various levels of the Church went out of their way to create false papers, provide diplomatic pouches, and work overtime to help Nazis escape Allied punishment.

LOL. Germany is still part of Europe. The Argentinians got rid of most of the native population. They don't like racial diversity.

“They don’t like racial diversity.”

Nobody does.

It’s genetic.

Sorry, you’ve been misled.

Remember who it is that Our Lord called “the Father of Lies.”

I am Catholic, but not a Pollyanna about this pope.

I would ask only that people don’t say he’s worse than he is, or that his heresies and errors are part of Catholic teaching.
