State Fair Bans Guns; State Fair Workers Robbed at Gun Pont

Washington State Fair is one of the few locations in the State that bans the legal carry of firearms.  That policy is directly stated in the rules for the fair.   From thefair.com:

The following items will not be allowed at the Washington State Fair,

Weapons of any kind, including knives and all firearms

The effect of creating a weapons free zone was not lost on a group of criminals.  They used the fact that fair workers were known to be disarmed to their advantage.  Three different armed robberies of State Fair workers were committed in less than 20 minutes, on the 15th of September, Sunday night, shortly after the Fair closed.  From komonews.com:

But Strom had just finished a 10-hour shift selling items at the fair and had been paid $100 in cash.

I turned down a job offer in downtown Seattle when I was out of work. The engineering job would have required a relocation. One year later was the “Battle of Seattle “. I would had also been arrested for urinating on Lenin’s statue. So it was a good thing I turned down that job.

“........ the armed robberies committed by four young black men in a white Buick or Oldsmobile.”........

At least someone had the courage to list the robbers race.

I think I understand this mindset. It comes from judging laws by their intent rather than their actual consequences.

Liberals believe that virtuous people would not permit weapons at the fair; they want to be virtuous, therefore they ban weapons at the fair. If that results in an increase in violent crime, that's irrelevant... it's their intent that was the important thing in their minds. 'Meaning well' is everything, and damn the consequences.

Nice. And when they become the Congress and write a law I might follow it. Until then the 2nd Amendment and my Government issued permit are the law of the land.......

The funny thing is that, besides here, many people won’t make any connection. Isn’t leftist brainwashing great?

However, the gun shows are pretty strict. I can’t remember if they allow concealed carry or not.

The few I've been to don't allow CCW, but if there's no metal detector or guy with a wand, I carry anyway.
Pretty much like anywhere else.

If there are no metal detectors or pat downs why would you not carry? I carry everywhere, permitted or not, unless there is a search protocol.

Judging by intent rather than results is insane, and was condemned by Christ (John 7:24).

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree. It's perhaps the most foolish thing I've ever encountered... but I have actually heard liberals tell me that the effect of a law wasn't what mattered, but rather what it was intended to do that was important.

How someone can actually think this is completely beyond me.
