Admin Mod note: Title changed at source to Cruz: Carson's stance on Muslim presidents unconstitutional
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is criticizing GOP rival Ben Carson for saying that a Muslim should not be president of the United States.
At a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sunday evening, Cruz said religious convictions should have no bearing on ones fitness for the Oval Office.
You know, the Constitution specifies there shall be no religious test for public office and I am constitutionalist, he said, according to The Des Moines Register.
My view, listen. The presidents faith is between him and God, the 2016 Republican White House hopeful added of President Obama. What Im going to focus on is his public policy record.

Wait - where is the rebuke?
.
Not sure about the timely part.
Dagon is your guy, isn’t he?
I’m with Yeshua, you know, the other guy, the one that really can save us.
I'm dissapointed in Cruz for saying this. One's religion affects one's values, and one's values affect one's fitness for being the president.
This headline is not the same as the original headline.
.
Well, your smile made me smile. Thanks.
Media punk us every time and just like Lucy, we jump in feet first.
The headline is a lie and the story layout makes the lie seem true. There was no rebuke.
What you said
.
>> “True enough. I dont see where Carson ever suggested that we do.” <<
Correct, but that didn’t satisfy the propaganda ministry, so they wrote a fake headline for the dummies that only read headlines.
That is their usual practice.
.
Would Ted Cruz say a Communist President is merely a matter of opinion?
If a person holds totalitarian views, why wouldn’t he/she be disqualified from consideration from the nation’s highest office?
Hey Ted, what’s the difference between Communism and Islam? I’d love for you to explain to us why we can’t have a Communist President but we could tolerate a Muslim one.
What is the original headline?
Because Cruz follows the Constitution.
You may not like it but if we are to remain a Republic, you cannot pick and choose what clauses in the Constitution you like and those you don’t.
Interesting info.
I wonder how the country would take it?
.
>> “Would a Muslim president be sworn into office using the Bible or the Koran?” <<
.
Yes! :o)

Read the article before posting!
You do realize that Cruz did not "criticize" Carson, nor did he say that one's belief should have no bearing on one's fitness for office, right? Cruz said that the Constitution does not allow for a religious test for office. That does not say that voters could not or should not consider the beliefs of a candidate when choosing for whom to vote.
Once again, the liberal press takes a very solid, constitutionally correct answer, makes up their own interpretation of it, and conservatives swallow it whole.
Did you even read what Cruz said? He never even referenced Carson.
So there goes any of my support for Cruz. I was on the fence so to speak as to his eligibility but now I am against a person who would turn the reins of the US over to anyone suggesting Muslim rule of the US was ok and possible. Cruz might be a good lawyer but he shows me now he is not a true believer in the Founders intentions for the US who, in contrast to Obama’s mouthing’s, did not include Muslims. Once again events are showing that time is needed to get complete info on people and their core persona. Fiorina is another so called Republican that has been deceptive as to the Founders intentions..
.
>> “ and conservatives swallow it whole.” <<
.
And it will never end!
