Sen. Barbara Boxe lashes out at Carly Fiorina as 'mean-spirited' face of corporate greed

Sen. Barbara Boxer lashed out at Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina on Friday, saying that the woman she defeated in 2010 is a “mean-spirited,” failed business leader who cared more about enriching herself than about working Americans.“Here is a woman who ran against me in the worst year Democrats ever had and we won in a landslide because the people of California didn’t want her to do to the country what she did to Hewlett-Packard,” Boxer said. “She’s the face of income inequality and the face of corporate greed…. She makes Mitt Romney look like a Democrat.” Romney was the GOP presidential nominee in 2012.

Fiorina’s campaign responded with a jab at Boxer. “California has the highest poverty rates in the nation under Barbara Boxer's policies. As president, Carly will challenge the status quo that has crushed Americans under the weight and corruption of this government,” said Fiorina spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores.

Boxer said Fiorina enriched herself as the chief of Hewlett-Packard, flying in private planes and buying a yacht as she oversaw the layoff of 30,000 workers, and sent jobs overseas. The senator pointed out that the value of H-P stock dropped sharply before Fiorina was fired. Fiorina has argued that she made difficult decisions that allowed H-P to survive the technology industry recession. Her track record at H-P became the centerpiece of Boxer’s campaign, which the Democrat won by 10 points. “She was tested in a Republican year running against me, who was considered very vulnerable, and she got slaughtered not because of me but because of her,” Boxer said. “Because of her lack of compassion and even caring about working people.” Read the rest at LA Times...

Can anyone explain what Carly’s experience was on the CIA Defense Business Board. All I can see is that she was head of the board. Can not understand the roll this board plays.

She makes Mitt Romney look like a Democrat.”

Mitt Romney makes Mitt Romney look like a Democrat, because he is one, even though he wears an R jersey.

Fiorina is a Democrat wearing an R jersey, too, as are most of the rest of the pack.

After the last amnesty resulting in 10 times the number of illegal aliens, only an idiot would want to do that again.

There are plenty of those running.

Take what I say here with a grain of salt, but I read something on the forum about this.

I believe it was a committee that was tasked with review and implementation, government requests for hardware/software access for government covert needs.

This doesn’t mean the government always got what it wanted. This an industry group that listened and probably did coordinate with the government in some ways.

I can’t address specifics, so I don’t make a determination on it. It does seem to be fertile ground for problematic things though.

FIorina - A modest background, and rose from secretary to CEO simply on merits. Boxer has no merits.

Merits? NO. I heard on her back but not on merits.

Thanks DoughtyOne. Can’t find too much information on this one. Carly is playing on this connection.

Father a Ninth Circuit judge? She earned several degrees between the secretary job and the CEO job. she did not work her way up from secretary at HP to CEO of HP, which is how she makes it sound.

Not on her back. She is from Texas and started as a secretary and then a sales rep for AT&T. She kept on moving up and then when they became Lucent she moved into management positions. A family member has worked for AT&T for a long time, and this has nothing to do with her, but relates to the history of the company and its various phases after the breakup of the monopoly in 1982.

She may think it enhances her resume. It could be seen as very invasive, a violation of privacy rights.

Perhaps it’s better to get it out there politically before someone else does, but I wouldn’t want to brag about it.

It puts her right at the core of government data gathering, permission and denial.

Most interesting. I thought Fiorino was the cats meow after that first performance. Some investigation subsequently has frightened the beegeeper so outa me. I became suspicious when in the second debate show she craftily deflected the border security topic. This woman, a Romney Mclame understudy Will never do anything along our border other than what Obammy has orchestrated.

I hope the political entrails align and this soon gets revealed to the public. Never mind the business business-—that was seen as a Kaliforney local issue and simply causes the public to gulp no doze.

I had the misfortune of having to deal with this woman on ground water contamination matters. I do not know what was worse - having to deal with the EPA bureaucrats or this A-hole of a US Senator.

The good news is that she is retiring. The bad news is that she now owns a home in Rancho Mirage (Palm Springs area), not far enough away from where I live.

“Boxer calling anybody “mean-spirited” is almost as ironic as Boxer calling anybody “stupid”.”

Carly has more brains in one finger than Babs. When Babs was running for Senator, she knocked out Bruce Herschensohn, who is a true Conservative and patriot. Babbling Babs saw Bruce in a topless bar where he had met someone for a drink and made enough of an issue out of it to cause him to lose. She is an ignorant witch.

Like Barbara Boxer’s opinion of anything is something I’m interested in.

No, she was not at HP but at AT&T, first as a secretary and then in sales when it was transitioning to Lucent. Of course she had degrees - is there something wrong with that? I’m about the same age, and like it or not, even women with multiple degrees often had to start out as administrative assistants. This is not the case now, fortunately.
