Donald Trump got some back-up on Friday evening from two of his fellow Republican presidential candidates in the controversy over the town hall questioner who claimed the president is a Muslim. Trump did not take the man on as he brought up old birther claims and asserted that the current White House occupant is not an American. He's come under attack for the incident, which took place Thursday evening, and he today cancelled an appearance at a major conservative gathering, issuing his policy proposal on the second amendment instead. With Trump gone, his opponents were peppered with questions about the incident. Rick Santorum and Ted Cruz had mini meltdowns when reporters asked them to comment, with Santorum saying it's not the candidate's 'job to police a questioner' and Cruz calling it just another 'food fight' that American's don't care about.

I thanked both Cruz and Santorum via Twitter! Maybe some here on FR can do the same.
I like both Cruz and Santorum.
CNNs Michaela Pereira..........referred to Obama as President Muhammad.
Good on them!
They get that what they toss at Trump is what they would easily toss at them, and that to try to take advantage of this (not that Cruz would) would have been seen as the same as running the attack themselves.
There is some growing certainty that both Rick Santorum and Ted Cruz will play important parts in the next Administration to occupy the White House (restored).
Now I do not have a crystal ball, but the chances of any Democrat being able to retain the reins of the Chief Executive office of the territory once known as “the United States of America” are small and diminishing daily. There is no assurance that the Democrats cannot snatch victory of a sort from the jaws of near certain defeat (after all, they DO control the vote counting functions in a surprising number of places), but it will be even harder than Florida in 2000. More people will be alert and ready to jump into action.
The GOP candidates that crumbled (most) should be your warning that if elected they will be the same spineless quislings that Boehner and McConnell are.
Mrs BN mentioned other "old (xxxx) claims",

[Note to MSM: just because something is "old" that does not mean it is untrue, irrelevant or invalid]
Ed Klein told Hannity:
The Rev. Wright told me on tape Obama came to him and said, I need some spiritual advice; I dont know exactly who I am. The Rev. Wright said and this is on tape Well, we know your Islam background and you have that, but what you need now is some coaching on Christianity.
And I asked the Rev. Wright, did you convert him from being a Muslim to a Christian?
He said, Well I dont know if I could go that far but I can tell that I made it comfortable for him to accept Christianity without having to renounce his Islamic background.
May it be obseved the Rev. Wright was, himself, a former muslim.
Maybe even BFAM.
Good on both Cruz and Santorum! Not always a big fan of Santorum, but he scored some points here with me.
I think Donald’s courage is catching on!

I was thinking the same thing! I like both of them, mainly because they are professed Christians!
We know practically NOTHING about President Obama's background.
I do not know how Christie, Graham, and Jeb Bush know that Obama was born in the US without evidence. Records are sealed and being kept that way by Obama.
Maybe they do not want it to be an issue for political purposes.
I saw them on t.v. yesterday. That is why I don’t care for these three.
Wow.
This says one thing to me...neither Wright nor Obama sound like CONVERTED, BORN-AGAIN Christians. I pray for the both of them.
This article is a hit piece; tawdry propaganda. It will backfire on them, though.
Both good men and probably hoping to have a place in the Trump administration. LOL - Trump could do worse.
Santorum really caught my attention in the Debate of Four... but, alas, the press overlooked his speaking skills, his integrity and his bona fides. Cruz fared OK in the larger group.
Both are to be commended for standing up to support Mr Trump.
I heard only Santorum’s sprightly defense and it was right from the heart and super-feisty! He ended with “Just cut it out, OK?” I only wish that the cameras had focused on the press after his rebuke!
