ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Thousands of migrants were trapped Friday in a vicious tug-of-war as bickering European governments shut border crossings, blocked bridges and erected new barbed-wire fences in a bid to stem the wave of humanity fleeing conflict and poverty in the Middle East and Africa.
Asylum-seekers who fled westward after being beaten back by tear gas and water cannon on the Hungarian-Serbian border just days earlier found themselves being returned to Serbia, where their ordeal began, after Croatia declared it could not handle the influx.
The EU's failure to find a unified response to the crisis left this tiny Balkan nation, one of the poorest in the European Union, squeezed between the blockades thrown up by Hungary and Slovenia and the unending flood of people flowing north from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
With more than 17,089 migrants arriving in just three days, Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic declared that his nation of 4.2 million could no longer cope and the asylum-seekers could not stay.

This is Merkel’s doing: she foolishly proclaimed that Germany would take in huge numbers of refugees. When the news hit the Middle East, North Africa, and elsewhere the Third World the flood of refugees began. Hopefully the German people will realize her culpability and throw her out of office.
Build a double layer fence and let pigs roam between them. Problem solved.
Europe should never have united under a single currency because their cultures are too diverse.
Europe should have abandoned the MULTICULTURAL trap.
Europe should have limited immigration throughout the last 30 years.
Europe should have continued to have babies, thus eliminating the need for an influx of migrant workers.
Now that the sh*t has hit the fan, (or backed up as you say) we see the Europeans’ true tendencies coming to the fore.

The MG42. It really is a wonderful MG. I had the opportunity to shoot one in the early 90s. I was training with the Italians and they still used it. I asked them how often it broke down (like our M60s did all of the time). They looked at me like I was crazy and said it never broke down (wear out a barrel or three, but kept chugging.). All of their MG42s were from WWII.
