New Prime Minister of Australia - Inadvertent Propagandist of Islam
Beyond Popular Propaganda ^ | 09.15.2015

"I mean Islam is an ancient religion of great scholarship" - said Mr. Malcolm Turnbull. He argued on the eyes of millions television viewers that " It is important for us that we promote and encourage Islam" (...) Mr. Turnbull statements seem to be misinformed and confusing which promote and communicate, at best, incomplete view of complex political reality. Because Islam has never been perceived by its proponents in Eastern world, as Christianity is being seen in Western civilization.

Well, I know nothing about Peter Sutherland so I will look him up, but I also don’t consider him relevant in this case, precisely because I think Turnbull’s connection to Goldman Sachs is pretty irrelevant.

In my view, he was ‘hired’ because at the time Goldman Sachs needed somebody who was familiar with how to run a large business in Australia, and could also successfully defend the company in the court like environment of a Royal Commission (Australia’s second largest insurance company had collapsed due to fraud, and Goldman Sachs had links to that company, and some people would have loved to see blame ascribed to a foreign company rather than internally). Turnbull was a successful lawyer with a proven track record in high pressure public court cases, who had also recently proven himself to be a very astute businessman. That’s why they got him. And he wasn’t there very long.

Read the bbc link I helpfully provided.

Then read about sutherland. Even wiki would be better than nothing.

Then try to convince yourself that GS has absolutely nothing to do with anything involving world politics and stuff...

Black Agnes is right, this was a coup to replace someone who wouldn’t go along with the destruction of white civilization. White people are too independent and won’t go along with what they are planning. This same plot is being played out over and over.

I haven't said anything like this. I've just said that with regards to Malcolm Turnbull, the fact that from 1999 until 2001, he was involved with Goldman Sachs is pretty much utterly irrelevant as to why he is now Prime Minister of Australia. What is relevant is a wide variety of other issues that are far too important to be ignored because of that.

I don't disagree with that. I just disagree with the obsession about Goldman Sachs as being important in this case.

Turnbull is what he is because of a lot of other issues. This focus on GS has only happened because American newspapers were looking for something to talk about that Americans had heard of in describing him. Most Americans have never heard of HIH or OzEmail, or the Australian Republican Movement. My guess is most under 30 have never heard of Spycatcher either. But they've heard of Goldman Sachs, so that's the one the US media mentioned. The other things are all much more relevant - and most Australians, living here, where Turnbull has been well known since the 1990s are aware of them - far more I suspect that are aware of Goldman Sachs for that matter.

O, wad some Power the giftie gie us. To see oursels as others see us! Robbie Burns

On the other hand. Maybe foreigners don't just get it.

Did you know the CIA overthrew the Australian government in 1975? Me Neither.

But google Whitlam CIA coup for the way some people see the world.

CIA, Goldman Sachs, Elders of Zion. Always someone pulling the stings.

You are wrong.

No, Tony Abbott never made such statements on Islam as Turnbull did.

Turnbull questioned terrorist character of ISIS and suggested “exaggerations”when other ministers (for example Foreign Minister Julie Bishop) revealed that there is chemical weapon available to them. He was the go-guy for any media show on appreciation of Islam. This is about Islam and in consequence also on reception of Muslim refugees (Tony Abbott wanted to receive mainly persecuted minorities such as Yazzidis and Christians).

Naturalman1975: I agree with everything you’ve said in this thread, especially your comments about “conciliatory statements about moderate Islam...” and “Goldman Sachs”.

Additionally, I think Tony Abbott was replaced by his party because of multiple issues, not one or two. Goldman Sachs was not one of them.

Anyway, we are 1 year out from another Federal election, where people will vote. So, Turnbull has roughly one year to prove what he can do. Issues for me as a voter will be the economy (revenue, business investment and spend) , jobs and immigration.
