First Romney back in 2012 and now Trump. What is it with Republican candidates and battleships?

They're also obsolete.

That battleship hearkens back to a day when the United States was not apologetic over its power.

.

Not completely ...

A nuclear-powered battleship with an Ageis system and phalanx of cruise missiles ...

plus 16-inch guns ...

with effective air-missile defense would be a great weapons system ...

.

I miss those grand ships - the last of the old wagons in active service they were.

The four sisters (Iowa, Wisconsin, New Jersey and Missouri), the one who never sailed (Kentucky), and the sitxh who was never built (Montana).

Frontrunner Donald Trump will make a major foreign policy speech aboard the battleship USS Iowa. "Donald Trump is a long-standing supporter of veterans and the military and we are honored that he has chosen our organization and event for his major national security address,” said Joel Arends, chairman of the Veterans for a Strong America (VSA), in a statement on Thursday announcing the event.

NOTE: July 4 1986- The USS Iowa Carried President Ronald
Reagan for Liberty Weekend's International Naval Review in
the Hudson River.

=======================================================

(BTW, not to be outdone, Jebbie will perform foreign "acts of love" at Chipotle's takeout counter.)

Get over it. Romney is history. Trump is on the record for increasing our military capacity, and taking care of our veterans, and anyone who doesn't like that needs to give their head a shake.

This rally will benefit more than Trump, it will benefit our veterans and that is a good thing.

It’s Republican Veterans...Patriots all!!

Except that the only veteran who is running is Lindsey Graham.

Well you just go right ahead and vote for that pansy.

Battleships are a weapons platform that could always be updated and should never have been mothballed. Even if they are just “for show” that is worth it for gunboat diplomacy reasons. It’s a big stick and gets attention.

Now, I just learned something, FRiend! Thanks! I knew about ‘Montana’, but never ‘Kentucky’ and ‘Illinois’ as battleships. A bit before my time, though. We have ‘Wisconsin’ here in Norfolk; she’s a grand old lady, for sure!

You and me both Sarge, and let us not forget the USS Texas, and the USS North Carolina too.

And an honorable mention to a fine battleship that served for many many years, and wound up as razor blades after 1959, she deserved better:

Trump wants a strong foreign policy and believes that it must include 7 core principles:

a. American interests come first. Always. No apologies.

b. Maximum firepower and military preparedness.

c. Only go to war to win.

d. Stay loyal to your friends and suspicious of your enemies.

e. Keep the technological sword razor sharp.

f.See the unseen. Prepare for threats before they materialize.

g. Respect and support our present and past warriors.
