I could have _easily_ loaded it with the trigger lock attached. The trigger lock does not prevent insertion of full magazine, and work the slide to chamber a round; at that point, sufficient pressure on the trigger lock (most easily achieved by placing the back of the gun on the floor and pressing straight down with both hands, blowing one’s own head off in the process).
WELL, I WON'T GIVE MINE UP.
Going to bed now so I can be rested to shoot an action pistol match in the morning.
Anyone who works so hard to defeat safeties isn’t really an indication of a problem with guns.
Don’t have kids, do you?
Exactly right. I have trigger-locks on my guns, mandatory in California with kids in the house. I also have a tool shed with tools capable of cutting the lock in a minute or two. A teenager will easily defeat a trigger-lock, but if they decide to do that then their decision to take suicide is not just an impulse decision but a planned mission. They could more easily cut their wrists by running them through a bandsaw, mission accomplished. My wife's sister is wondering what compelled her husband to kill himself last month, he blew his head off with a shotgun. Having a gun had nothing to do with his need to end his life, as he would have found other ways to do so, it was in his character.
A religion of pieces suicide bomber.
Let’s ban the second amendment because a Muslim radical blew himself up and his daddy is mad about it being “uselesss” - not taking out infidels! How odd.
And gun control doesn’t look like his only liberal cause.
...
What was a liberal doing with a gun?
Have to agree with you totally. We own side arms and a 12 guage, when our Grands and Great Grands come over they are all stored in a Bolted down locked Gun safe.
My boys were raised around guns as was I, and we KNEW not to touch Dad’s guns. None of us ever did.
Kids watch to many vid games where there is not real death or consequences. They mess with their minds.
Come try and pry mine out of my hands, my 16 year old was BEAT TO DEATH BY A SOCIOPATH for the THRILL to see what it felt like to kill. NOW TELL ME IT’s the GUNS FAULT? A 2 ft section of FENCE POST WAS USED, Jeremy was AMBUSHED about a block from home by the local drug dealing bully. 20 yrs and he served 12.5 and I had to fight for that. Pay for it too out of my pocket, and for his defense, his prison up keep, education, and defense lawyers at the parole hearings. He now walks TN a free man and I CCW as I’m target number 1.
Education on the topic can prevent a lot of the crap ....
My heart goes out to the man, but there is no indication how much quality time he spent with his son - like maybe taking him shooting or indulging in some other hobby together.
I am very sorry for your wife and her sister.
It has to hurt so much.
I’m awfully sorry to hear your story. Our world is truly broken. God bless you and your family.
I have raised two sets of children, for a total of five. When I put the weapons away, they were secured in a safe and the ammunition was locked up in another place. When they got older, I even removed the firing pins.
Each child was taught how to shoot at the age of five. They were taught weapons handling safety at the outset.
There is no excuse for placing a child in harms way, and it doesn't take much effort to fully protect them. Trigger locks were mandated by the government; and, as usual, those mandates were ill thought out and hopelessly inadequate.
BY THE NUMBERS - 20,000 Americans commit suicide per year using a gun. - 3/4 of teen gun suicides involve a parent's gun. - 71% of suicides happen within an hour of the person making the decision. - 3 times more likely for a suicide if there is a gun in the home. - 306 youths took their lives in 2012, making it the third-leading cause of death for those 10 to 14 years old. SOURCES: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
Sorry about that, but what does that have to do with my family. When my kids were teenagers they knew where the guns were and where the keys were located. If the guy went to all that trouble to hide it he must have sensed a problem. He is trying to assuage his guilt by doing this video.
Good - so you understand what staggeringly stupid acts of heroic effort kids will engage in. And so you understand how stupid I think trigger locks are, precisely because kids will do such staggeringly stupid things.
Absolutely! Trigger locks give un-knowledgeable people a false sense of security, and nothing more.
