Trump questions Ben Carson’s ‘energy’ to be president

BOONE, Iowa – Donald Trump zeroed in Saturday on Republican rival Ben Carson, questioning whether he has the energy to be president, a line he has frequently used to taunt Jeb Bush.

"I don't think Ben has the energy," said Trump, before calling him a "nice man" and arguing that he is not cut out for negotiating with some foreign officials.

The attack came as Carson, a retired surgeon running an outsider campaign like Trump, has surged into second place in many surveys, behind the brash real estate mogul.

Trump, who campaigned here before heading to a tailgate party where a trio of other GOP hopefuls were also appearing, also criticized Carson for recently questioning his Christian faith.

"You don't hit a person on faith," said Trump. "I don't know him. He knows nothing about me."

This is well-planned.

Carson has invested a lot of personal time in Iowa and he does come off as WAY too soft spoken to handle the rough and tumble of executive leadership.

Carson, like Perry and Jindal, SHOULD have criticized
Obama on giving nukes to Iran, on keeping the borders
open to terrorists, and arming terrorists.

But no.
They preen before the MSM and meekly do the bidding
of Obama, Bush and the MSM.

I was impressed with Carson early on. Now he has pretty much fallen off my radar.

Trump has oppo research on all of his competitors. He just waits for them to hit him before he dumps it. He’s an uncommonly shrewd man.

Trump mania in Iowa is fading, so like any good businessman, he calls his competitor is lacking energy. Trump! Trump! Trump!

Trump’s efforts to raise himself by dumping on other candidates are having the opposite effect on me.

I think we do not want to elect a NEW Obama, who happens to be wearing a different party’s badge...

I just hard Trump say this afternoon that his tax plan will be coming out in about 3 or 4 weeks. This is right before the CNBC debate on the economy. Brilliant strategy.

Dwight Eisenhower didn’t have “energy”, and Ronald Reagan liked his afternoon naps.

A little time for reflection, occasionally, does not hurt, either.

If you want to talk about “no energy”, how about the Current Occupant, who is so paralyzed at times he cannot make even a judgment call. And it has nothing at all to do with reflecting on various options - unless it is to take the absolute worst option on the table.

The old tricks are the best tricks. Why shouldn’t Trump recycle the same lines over and over again? The mob, er crowd, loves ‘em.

He’s a Democrat attacking the GOP. Why doesn’t he call Hillary a lush? Energy-less? Ugly? An utter failure? He could kill her campaign right now, but he won’t cause he’s working for her.

Really?

Give me a link to that statement....he’s leading in Iowa, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Florida, and it only takes him twice to be somewhere and his polls go up...

Fading???? I don’t think so....

Oppo he got from Democrats. He’s keeping Hillary in the race. Why not knock her out now? Let Sanders or Biden come in and lose for certain?

Just because he doesn’t spend all day lobbing insults at Republican candidates, interviewers, reporters, and anyone BUT Hillary doesn’t mean he is lacking in energy. There’s more to running for President than being a jerk to your enemies.

He’ll print it on cotton candy and set it in the shower for us all to read. I hope he has his ring master hat on!

Trump looks for a candidate's weak point and attacks it. He uses a very broad approach with few words and simple concepts.

It sticks in the memory of the listener much better than complicated policy issues.

For example if Christy had gained traction, Trump would have said something like "I know and like Chris, but I do worry about this health...you know, carrying around all that extra weight.

He could kill her campaign right now, but he won’t cause he’s working for her.

You know better than that (the part about killing her campaign).

He's campaigning for victory in the primaries, he's not running against Hillary.
