After dividing her city and leaving destruction in her wake, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said she would not seek re-election.
“It was a very difficult decision, but I knew I needed to spend time focused on the city’s future, not my own,” she said at a Friday news conference.
Perhaps she should have been focused on her city’s future when she decided to give rioters “space to destroy” Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody in April.
“I’m focused right now on governing rather than campaigning for mayor at this critical time in our history,” Blake said.
Conservative snark queen Michelle Malkin was among the first to blast the mayor on Twitter.

I purposely watched her ridiculous attempt to paint bright colors on her lousy, incompetent administration. Thinking viewers would know that this pitiful attempt at white wash was made by a person whose IQ has to be under 110.
It’s time for her to move further up in the Democratic Party hierarchy and into the Black Caucus.

She’s got three things going for her to make her a prime pick for higher office (Dem Congress Critter or Senator or maybe to take DNC Debbie’s job since she’s already secretary of the Democratic National Committee and president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. ):
1. Incompetent ... grossly incompetent
2. Black (& entitled)
3. Female (Moochelle variety - good at making ugly faces and with a chip the size of a cinderblock on her shoulder - the enemedia will consider her very ‘stylish’ with her hairdo, pouty lips, etc.).
She should do VERY well - we’ve not heard the last of the Mayor of Mayhem.

She’s had such a marvelous run as the mayor of Baltimore that she should join the field of Democrat presidential candidates.
Looks like she is satisfied with the amount of taxpayer money she has already skimmed and is ready to enjoy it.
Yes, she is a disgrace, yet who do you think the voters of Baltimore will vote for in their next mayoral election, Democrat or Republican? Any wagers? I think we all know what the answer is.
She doesn’t want to wait until the fair citizens of Bal-Mer realize that 6.4 million to the family of a criminal comes out of their entitlements.
She can’t print money, and that makes governing so hard.
I wonder if the family of the guy who killed him self in the back of the police van is giving her some of the $6,000,000.00+ settlement. Just some “thank you” money.
Personally, I think her political career in Baltimore ended during the riots when the Baltimore Orioles decided to play a Major League Baseball game in an empty stadium. Professional sports are inconsequential in the larger scheme of things, but that kind of national story will do more damage to a city’s image than if Godzilla had come ashore and destroyed every building in the place.
She is exceedingly stupid and watching her swan speech was a study in ignorance.
Senator from Maryland is a much more cush position.
