McConnell: Planned Parenthood funding protest 'exercise in futility'
Politico ^ | 09/11/2015 | BURGESS EVERETT and JOHN BRESNAHAN

Posted on 09/11/2015 10:31:55 AM PDT by GIdget2004

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday he will back a plan to fund the government into December with no conditions, rejecting in his strongest terms yet calls from within his party to defund Planned Parenthood as part of a larger budget bill.

“It’s an exercise in futility," the Kentucky Republican told POLITICO in an interview. "I’m anxious to defund Planned Parenthood" but "the honest answer of that is that’s not going to happen until you have a president who has a similar view."

"It’s better to be honest with the American people and say, ‘That won’t get it done,’” he added.

The Senate leader's bow to political reality further sets up an end-of-month clash with congressional conservatives that could potentially shutter the government over Planned Parenthood funding. Instead, he plans to pursue a two-pronged strategy: A short-term funding bill to buy time to negotiate a longer-term spending measure, and separately, a vote this month to federally ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Specifically, it was mostly the Romney candidacy that I refused to support. I saw through him long ago as a rabid liberal, barely better than Obama. I was horrified that Obama won, but simultaneously glad that Romney lost. I seriously believe we would be in no better shape today under his leadership.

He considers everything that is moral and conservative an exercise in futility.

McConnell and Boehner are Obama’s _itches.

They should change party affiliations.

Dietrich Bonhoffer described people like this in his 1930’s Germany.

No one in that time and place would speak up against wrong and evil.

Ditto.

Imagine how I feel. I refused to vote for the Turtle and I am still stuck with him. I don’t even bother calling his office anymore. Last time I got some snotty young know it all who acted like I should just STFU and do as I am told.

The writing on the wall seems to be getting clearer by the day but with all of this DC treachery against the American people begs one to ask with regards to this country’s immediate future; what do they know that they’re not telling us?

One thing Mitch bows to is not political reality.

Mitch is campaigning for the Senate Minority position again.

Mitch McConnell’s mother having a baby was an exercise in futility.
She should have used a condom for the sake of our nation.

This is a radical statement, but it is better that this nation die a quick death rather than linger in despicable, degrading leftism.

Remember how Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi sounded just like this when they had control of the Congress?

Nope.

Me neither.

I totally agree. A car wreck and instant death is a far better way to go than liver cancer. Same idea.

McConnell and Boehner need to go!

They won’t stand up for conservatism.

They care more about power than principles.

And their endless excuses for inaction is wearing thin.

I am SO SICK of our ‘leaders’ telling us, “Well I want to do that BUT...”
Eff the whole GOP!

Ditto!

There are so many freaking ways to evade responsibility and b**ls. I don't want to hear another incompetent say...

It's an exercise in futility, so I'm not even gonna try! *whine*

I want you to not only try, but to get as many vetoes as you can manage. It is no more a waste of time as being a bunch of wussy losers.

Let history note that at some point, the GOPe borrowed a spine and at least tried. Can't cut it? Go home and let someone else try!
