Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday he will back a plan to fund the government into December with no conditions, rejecting in his strongest terms yet calls from within his party to defund Planned Parenthood as part of a larger budget bill.
Its an exercise in futility," the Kentucky Republican told POLITICO in an interview. "Im anxious to defund Planned Parenthood" but "the honest answer of that is thats not going to happen until you have a president who has a similar view."
"Its better to be honest with the American people and say, That wont get it done, he added.
The Senate leader's bow to political reality further sets up an end-of-month clash with congressional conservatives that could potentially shutter the government over Planned Parenthood funding. Instead, he plans to pursue a two-pronged strategy: A short-term funding bill to buy time to negotiate a longer-term spending measure, and separately, a vote this month to federally ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Cromnibus again?
Ima tell you. There is no way in hell I’m ever gonna vote for an establishment Republican again.
Everything that goes against the wishes of Obama and the Democrats is an “exercise in futility” with this guy.
One thing Mitch bows to is not political reality.
Admitting that what obama wants obama gets
Remind us why we have a senate and Congress?
Maybe it’s electing Republicans that’s an exercise in futility.
Voting for Republicans has been an exercise in futility.
No amount of mau-mauing by moderates will get me to the polls for one again. No way.
The futility is in attempting to get these A$$hat RINO’s to take up the fight. They simply whimper and roll over, everytime the dhimmicraps seek to destroy another piece of our Constitutional heritage.
Yup.
:0)
Riddle:
Who can do more to stop Planned Parenthood...
Mitch or a turd?
It’s a trick question. They are equal in their resolve to do the right thing.
“...not going to happen until you have a president who has a similar view.”
So, what we have is a dictator, not a president, and flunkies, not a Congress.
Agreed! Now we need to convince other conservatives not to.
They still manage to cling to power, and people are still pulling the lever for them. That has to stop, or our country will continue to fall into oblivion.
First they said, “we need the House.”
Then they said, “we need the Senate.”
Now they say, “we need the White House.”
Lies from word one to word last.
Your Republican Party in action. It sure as hell isn’t MINE.
McConnell can’t use his power to save the lives of innocent babies
He will not be remembered well in history.
Abortion WILL stop in this country. All cowards like him will be on the wrong side of that like KKK members on steroids.
Truly it will become reprehensible to talk about people paying others to kill their babies.
Oh shut up Mitch. How about supporting a bill similar to Rep Diane Black’s in the Senate?
