An Open Letter To Jonah Goldberg – RE: The GOP and Donald Trump
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | Posted on September 7, 2015 by sundance | by sundance

A few days ago I took the time to read your expressed concerns about the support you see for Donald Trump and the state of current conservative opinion. Toward that end I have also noted additional media present a similar argument, and I took the time to consider.

While we are of far lesser significance and influence, I hope you will consider this retort with the same level of consideration afforded toward your position.

The challenging aspect to your expressed opinion, and perhaps why there is a chasm between us, is you appear to stand in defense of a Washington DC conservatism that no longer exists.

I hope you will indulge these considerations and correct me where I’m wrong.

By the way, the single payer health plan Jonah speaks of was Trump's thinking in 2000.

In 2011 he changed his stance to repealing Obamacare, making insurance available for purchase across state lines, and tort reform including loser pay.

Perhaps your emphasis is on the wrong syllable. Perhaps you should be questioning the “ideological conservative principle” of Mitch McConnell, or Bob Corker; both of whom apparently working to deny the will of the electorate within the party they are supposed to represent. Of course, this would force you to face some uncomfortable empirical realities. I digress.

Bingo!

He is what LBJ once said " There is not a dime difference between the Democrats and the Republicans". Jonah that is your GOP.

Your party apologizes for any slip of the tongue

You have Juan Mc Cain and Leslie Graham backing every terrorist in Northern Africa and the Middle East with Obama and look the whole world is going to pay for their idiotic mistake. Who should I vote for Yeb Bush a real conservative?

Although not a Trump fan, this is quite a forceful letter.

Most excellent review of the reasons for Trump’s popularity.

I just read this and guess what? It is right on the money. All these complainers and incredulous people bashing Trump are just fine with all the outrageous things listed in this article. I have not seen them in any panic mode over Iran getting nukes and ICBM’s. They ought to be sounding the alarm but instead, when you turn on Fox news, you get games, grilling and bubble gum stories while Rome burns. Even the debate was about Trump calling women pigs. Why don’t they save their incredulousness for all the damage being done these nightmarish 8 years and stop enabling a diabolical kamikaze pilot at the helm with their support of RINOS and all they stand for day in and day out?

Jonah has jumped the shark. I liked him a lot and admire his mother so much, and sorrowed at the loss of his brother, WTH is he thinking?? Everybody wants a bigger paycheck in DC and NYC media. I guess Wall Street is cutting the corporate checks these Establishment guys work for. Bye, Jonah.

Jonah Goldberg is a lost soul, beholding to the spirit of GOPe. He has sold his soul to the devil for acclaimed relevancy, and ignores the roots of the real GOP. He can’t get past Agent Orange and Turtle expecting their behavior to change. Well Hell will freeze over before that happens

Excellent explanation as to why many people are drawn to Donald Trump.

Remember Virginia 2012, 2013? When the conservative principle-driven electorate changed the method of candidate selection to a convention and removed the party stranglehold on their “chosen candidates”. Remember that? We do.

What did McConnell, the RNC and the GOP do in response with Ken Cuccinelli, they actively spited him and removed funding from his campaign. To teach us a lesson? Well it worked, we learned that lesson.

This is why many of us support Trump. It’s not that he is conservative in the way Reagan was and Cruz is. It is because he can take out the trash so Cruz and other conservatives can finally have a voice.

The pathetic GOP establishment is a huge disappointment. That does not mean that Trump, who puts them to task, makes for our best representative against them.

Yes, he is a great release for the anger, resentment and depression genuine Conservatives feel, however we can’t let emotion overtake our reasoned judgement.

In my opinion, Ted Cruz has and continues to fight the dusty three-buttoned sell outs and does it with passion, intelligence and principle. He has the grace, gravitas and balance to make an inspiring President. Trump is loud, outrageous, and decidedly non PC, but a thoughtful, informed, and consistently Conservative President - not so much.

Goldberg is a GOPe dipshit. Every article I have read from him oozes uni-party. I wouldn’t piss on his ass if his guts were on fire.
