VIENNA — Pope Francis on Sunday called on every parish, religious community, monastery and sanctuary in Europe to shelter refugees fleeing “death from war and hunger,” adding that the Vatican’s two parishes would lead the way by taking in two families.
In a speech to thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square, the pope said it was not enough to say “have courage, hang in there” to those marching toward what he described as “life’s hope.”
Referring to the “tragedy of tens of thousands of refugees that flee death in conflict and hunger and are on a journey of hope,” Francis said, according to Vatican Radio, “the Gospel calls us to be close to the smallest and to those who have been abandoned.” He specifically asked that the European bishops support the effort.

The bishops of the U.S. have been arrayed against the people for many decades. They have been the most effective enemies of the pro-life movement. They were on the Soviet side in the Cold War. They have been for Open Borders from the day Ted Kennedy’s Destroy America Act passed in 1965.
Today the bishops and the Pope are in favor of the Muslim invasion of the entire West, and the Mexican invasion of the U.S.
The Pope and the bishops are doing all they can to make Catholicism contemptible, laughable, and incredible.
They have raised NO warning whatsoever against the forces of treason against the West.
The Brits on facebook are exploding in joy over this. Unfortunately, as they quickly point out, they are too old and poor to take in refugees themselves. (Probably want those stupid but rich Yankees to do it.)
If you had bothered to read the first paragraph you would see the Pope is stepping up. The Vatican will take in refugees. I have mixed feelings about this, but clearly the Pope is practicing what he is preaching.
I completely agree, and I'm Catholic. Barely at this point, though.

The real tragedy was the deposing of Pope Benedict XVI and co-opting of the church by the Socialists under Pope Francis............
How well fed and though lightly clothed they seem, very unlike anyone persecuted and hounded. The book "Camp of the Saints" depicted groups of students demonstrating. They thronged in Paris calling for complete acceptance of a huge armada sailing to the South of France. "We are all from the Ganges now" was the chant.
I hope not to burden you and others with my ramble on the "Camp of the Saints"- the most telling and true prophesy written 1973.
Though I still think of myself as Catholic I dropped out of the church almost 45 years ago after having to listen to the Marxist Mahoney out in California berate our efforts in the Nam. Got up in the middle of his sermon and walked out.
Mahoney (and I doubt you made it to heaven) there are 58,000 ghosts out there, whose names are on the wall, hoping you’re enjoying your own circle of hell.
A Catholic, of which I am one, had to be an idiot not to smell a rat when Benedict suddenly resigned.
