Dem Sen. Cardin opposes Iran deal (37 Senate Dems support, 6 undeclared, 3 oppose)

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) said on Friday that he will oppose the Iran nuclear deal, making him the third Senate Democrat to come out against the agreement.

"This is a close call, but after a lengthy review, I will vote to disapprove the deal," he wrote in a Washington Post op-ed. "The JCPOA legitimizes Iran's nuclear program. After 10 to 15 years, it would leave Iran with the option to produce enough enriched fuel for a nuclear weapon in a short time."

The opposition of Cardin — the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee — is a setback for the Obama administration as it tries to lockdown 41 votes to block a resolution of disapproval on the deal from passing the Senate.

The president, with 37 senators backing the deal, is still four votes shy of blocking the resolution, and Cardin, widely considered one of the most influential Democrats on Iran, could impact the handful of Senate Democrats who are still on the fence.

The Maryland Democrat helped reach a deal earlier this year with Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) on legislation that allows Congress to weigh in and vote on the deal.

Cardin, however, distanced himself from the decisions that his colleagues will make, saying the Iran deal is "a vote of conscience, not a litmus test of party loyalty or political acumen."

He added that the nuclear deal gives Iran a "legal path," even though it is "rouge state and has violated its international nonproliferation obligations for years."

"It would provide Iran with international endorsement of an industrial-scale nuclear program. Worse, Iran would be economically strengthened by frighteningly quick relief from sanctions and international economic engagement," he added. "If Iran violates the agreement, building international support for new sanctions would take too long to be effective."

In addition to Cardin, Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) have said they will oppose the deal.

Despite his opposition, Cardin said the agreement "does contain significant achievements" including "severe restrictions" on Iran's nuclear program in the short term and the ability to reapply sanctions if Iran violates the agreement.

Guess which of the 37 that support the deal is the deciding vote?

Answer. All of them.

"Oh, and in the prologue of the bill I found the slogans "Death to the Jews", "The Jews are our Misfortune" and "Juden Raus!" to be a bit offputting."

It’s safe for him to come out and vote no.

Why the hell was it a “close’ decision? If he actually studied it, should be a slam-dunk.

Its ok to vote no Ben Cardin—wink-wink-— we’ve got enough Barry butt kissers to seal the deal.

The big question is whether the Senate will even allow a vote on the issue. Once there are 41 Dems who support the deal, there will be no way to sustain a cloture vote. In fact, even the Dems who oppose the deal may not vote for cloture.

Obama does not want to use the veto for the sake of optics. He must not allow a vote on the agreement in the Senate.

the democrat party has clearly gone full communist and demonstrably does not care about the viability and safety of the US. To them and many RINOs in DC, politics is all about the money and the power and they will all throw their own mothers and children under the bus to achieve it and to keep it. Thus, any and all democrats who apposes the Iran deal does so for two reasons; to placate the NWO bankster military industrial complex and to protect their own chances for staying in office and to hell with the rest of us and the country.

You are correct.

Now that he see the bill is passed, it’s safe for him to oppose it.

What a bunch of turds.

All these “RAT supporters of Israel” are just pandering to their Jewish constituents. Since their votes aren’t needed, they are being given a pass by the other RATs. Just more Kabuki Theater in Congress. It’s all $hit!

No he’s not. He knows exactly how many votes he needs and how many he can spare. He will only want enough to sustain his veto. The rest can go back home and cynically brag about how they tried to stop the worst deal in American history.

Obama may not even have to worry about a veto. The Dems will stop any motion to block cloture. Then there will be no Senate vote on the agreement.

Booing God, Jews, and Israel at the DNC is not enough. They want to go on record supporting an Iranian nuclear attack against Israel. Perhaps when it happens they will claim, “but we didn’t know”, or perhaps they will proudly take credit. Either way, sensible people all recognize that they know what this will lead to.

The Jewish community in DC and Maryland, esp. the Baltimore City/County area, just told Cardin to shit or get off the pot.

When Rabbi Wohlberg, a moderate liberal, tells Cardin to oppose the agreement, that is a good sign that Jewish “centrists” (as opposed to so-called “moderates”) are very worried about the “surrender” agreement with Iran.

Also, the backstabbing betrayal of Israel by Sen. Barbara “The Mental Troll” Mikulski (D-Md) also became another Obama knife in the back of Jewish voters who helped elect him, twice.

My how the worm has turned. We Jews who knew that the deal was basically a “surrender” operation (with Kerry “The Dumb” leading it under the control leash of Comrade Obama), have been proven right.

We, who both lived and read history, know that ENEMIES of not only Israel (which has millions of Christians and Moslems among its citizens, as well as a Jewish majority), Jews in general, and America, WILL NEVER KEEP THEIR WORD ON ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT IN THE LONG RUN.

They might give in on some minor issues in the short run, but in the end, their maniacal, psychopathic hatred-driven ideology of Caliphate Islam, or Marxism, or just pure anti-Semitism, will dominate (”Islam Uber Alles”), or “Putin or Red China Uber Alles”.

We have read the books about WW2 and the Holocaust. We have said the “Kaddish” and “Yizkor” prayers for members of our family who were murdered in the Holocaust, including my whole European side of my mother’s family.

We have talked with our friends who survived Auschwitz, the work camps, the death marches, the killing fields, and the “actzions” in Poland and the Ukraine, among other countries.

Those numbers on their arms are not their Social Security Number. They are their “extermination number”.

We have talked to concentration camp liberators and heard what they saw at first hand. It is not a topic for a dinner conversation.

WE ARE NOT MACHIAVELLIAN LIKE OBAMA (WHO IS PURE EVIL), OR KERRY WHO IS PURELY STUPID/INCOMPENTENT AND TREARSONOUS, OR HILLARY CLINTON, WHO IS ALL OF THE ABOVE AND MORE.

Any US Senator who votes for the Iran surrender agreement is a traitor to America, a promoter of genocide against Israel and the Jews, and an absolute disgrace to our country, our political institutions, and our people.

NEVER AGAIN!
