Scott Walker Calls for ‘Reasonable Accommodation’ in Kentucky Clerk Case
The Blaze ^ | September 3, 2015 | Fred Lucas

Posted on 09/04/2015 12:38:29 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker called for a “reasonable accommodation” that would allow a Kentucky county clerk — ordered to jail Thursday in contempt of court — to freely practice her religion.

A federal judge ordered Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis jailed until she complies with a court’s ruling to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis has refused, saying that would violate her Christian beliefs.

“The bottom line in America is we are a nation of laws,” the Wisconsin governor told TheBlaze. “But part of those laws — in fact, the most important of those laws — is the Constitution. The Constitution is very clear about protecting freedom of religion, and the freedom to be able to practice religious beliefs in this country. I think it’s incredibly important those rights be protected in today’s society.”

Reasonable accommodation is the liberal code word for let us do our thing. Walker is mocking them by using their own language to point out the hypocrisy. Walker is this election’s Reagan.

Calling for reasonable accommodation is calling for reasonable accommodation. If he was mocking that term, then why did he not come out and say so? I know, I know, he realizes what he has said and how it would be interpreted and goes into this focus group tested spiel about the Constitution and that makes it all well and good for you?

A wise man once said; you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Can we not get to the point where we can unite behind someone who says what he means and means what he says? If I am going to mock someone or some thing, I do it in spades, like repeating to CW that her 2012 Perry is showing.

Walker did his speaking to me that he means what he says when his Super PAC hired the very guy who engineered the 2014 castigation of conservative candidates while being the “Republican Strategist” for the NRSC, or did you forget all about the the conservative lynching in Mississippi already?

Walker has no say over Super PACs.

But that’s all you have to fall back on.

If a PAC supporting your candidate had hired Dayspring you’d be touting how smart it was because he would know where the GOPe bodies were buried.

If you believe that, then you are even more oblivious than even I could have imagined. CW, your GOPe 2012 Perry slip is showing more than ever.

“The Constitution is very clear about protecting freedom of religion, and the freedom to be able to practice religious beliefs in this country.”........

When the lawyers finally jump on this and the lawsuits start flowing hot and heavy, perhaps those freedoms will once again be returned to We The People. For now, the liberals are in charge.

Every time people use the phrase “law of the land” in this matter, especially in regard to KY, it displays a stunning lack of recognition of what SCOTUS did.

SCOTUS invalidated any law that doesn’t recognize homosexual marriage.

They did not write new laws, although far too many act as though they did.

Walker had the perfect opportunity to stand up and say that this was the perfect time for States to push back on the FERAL Government and SCOTUS and us their State Rights.

But no he just goes squishy with, well geee we gotta follow the laws.

I can see it now if he is elected _resident.

Obamacare gotta stay because gee whiz it is the law.

UN arms removal from America, well geee it is the world law.

Obama’s DACA and amnesty, gee an executive order can be considered law....

So...the question now becomes, will Jdg. Bunning shackle and jail the entire and physical Commonwealth of Kentucky?

State Administrative Code states that any marriage of same sex couples (regardless of chromosomal fact) is disallowed, null, void.

According to the Statute (^not^ the 1998 DOMA portion) makes the result of any issuance of a marriage license to these activists, moot. Davis has been wrapped in the perfect Catch-22 conundrum.
[Issue and violate Commonwealth code, don’t issue and violate Federal Court determination]

Ultimately, she made the mistake of asserting her 1st-Am protection under religion when she should have pointed to her simple protection under the statute:
Such a marriage, in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is not recognized and the issuance of any such “license” is a violation of Commonwealth code. Should she violate the State Code?

What to do? What to do? As we shall see, The Commonwealth of Kentucky must make a definitive determination according to ^state^ tax laws -—in light of the Administrative Code-— regarding the filing status of the citizens in question. Each and every citizen of the Commonwealth has “standing” in a tax-tort regarding what complies with “married, filing jointly” in the KY-State tax laws.

If they file their 2015 STATE taxes as “married, filing jointly” what will KY do according to their own administrative code?

Jdg. Bunning has stepped into a cow-pie here, IMO. His “decision” cannot nullify Commonwealth code without the citizens of KY agreeing or seceding. If the citizens agree by acquiescence, that still does not nullify the statute.

I am fully aware of the unconstitutional nullification of California’s Prop 8 decision by the C9 panel.

Thanks, I will remember that next time.

“The Supreme Court ruled in June that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states.”

What the SCOTUS did was to impose a sodomite definition of marriage on all 50 states in violation of the 1st, 9th, and 10th amendments to the USC. Their decision was lawless and deserves only civil disobedience and contempt.

So the one guy in the race who actually has made the biggest difference going after the real problem - public unions - lost you over a single hire? Walker is perfectly situated to take down AFSCME and government unions - the invisible gorilla in the room controlling policy - don’t toss a winner out so cavalierly.

With Walker as POTUS you have the perfect confluence of events: GOP House and Senate with half the country living in states fully under GOP control. Walker knows how to enable those states and they’ll run with it. The real action is at the state level and Walker will get FedGov out of the way.

Yes it is Cruz. But that is not the point. Tell me. Does the SC make law in this country or not? If you think so tell me where in the Constitution it allows this.

This country wasn’t set up that way. The judicial branch does not make law. It interprets the laws that the Legislative branch passes.

I know this shouldn’t ALL of our candidates?

I didn’t say Walker didn’t love the Constitution (as he understands it). I don’t think he understands it very well.

There would be no need for worry about religious liberty if the Constitution hadn’t been ignored in the first place. Saying it is the “law of the land” when no law was passed by the Congress shows a lack of understanding and knowledge and that isn’t a good thing to have in a POTUS especially at this time.

Scott “Mitt” Walker is a Governor. He should be invoking the 10th Amendment and nullifying gay marriage in WI. Why is he not doing it?

He is not going to make those kinds of waves while he wants to be POTUS. But I would be willing to bet that there are many in the state legislature who would be for it. Maybe this will be the push they need.

Good question GG.

Walker has nothing to lose at this point as he is polling at 3%. He’s a loser and has no core values. That is why he is at 3%.
