Donald Trump Wanted To Make Charlie Rangel HUD Secretary In 1999
Buzz Feed ^ | July 10, 2015 | Christopher Massie

Posted on 09/03/2015 2:06:56 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said in November 1999 that, if elected president, he wanted to make Charles Rangel, the Democratic Congressman from New York, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

At the time, real estate magnate was considering running for president as a member of the Reform Party. Asked by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer if he’d “given some thought to a potential Trump Cabinet,” Trump mentioned Rangel as his top choice to lead HUD.

“Well, let’s go — like HUD,” Trump said. “I think Charlie Rangel is a terrific guy. He’s a congressman from New York. He has been a powerful guy. Now the Democrats are not in power, but I think he’d be terrific at HUD.”

Rangel has been a member of the House since 1971 and is still in office. His website touts his record promoting affordable housing in New York’s 13th Congressional District.

Other Trump Cabinet picks would have included Colin Powell as secretary of state and General Electric CEO Jack Welch as treasury secretary. Trump said that John McCain would be “a very interesting candidate” for secretary of defense.

In the interview, Trump also predicted that, if he won the Reform Party’s nomination, he would “take more votes away from the Democrats” than the Republicans in the general election. He ended up withdrawing from the race in February 2000.

He is bought and paid for by the chamber of commerce and the rest of the open borders crowd. He is a no-go in my book.

LA LA LA LA Can’t hear you!

/s

I do believe this is one of the more amazing things I’ve seen here. Pretty disturbing if you think about it...

In 2008 the left was so frustrated with 8 years of Bush when Obama came along saying all the right things many invested everything in him no matter his history.

In 2015 the right is so frustrated with Obama and the GOP when Trump came along saying all the right things many invested everything in him, again no matter his history.

But with this round the Clinton method has been added - “it’s old news”, “Move on”.

I’ve entered the Twilight Zone...

These points are fair game to ask Trump about why he thought this way and why he does or does not think this way now.

However, after listening to Rush's second hour yesterday, I am under the impression Trump is really the best hope we have to get any action through a Republican congress on at least some solid conservative matters.

The GOPe would successfully stonewall all the others. Only Trump would successfully bully and shame Congress from the perspective of both Republicans and Democrats.

Spot on. I have great enthusiasm for what Trump has done to shake up the race but his koolaide drinkers are getting to be a bit much.

All the anti Trump pushback infuriates me.

This is a Uniparty NWO putsch and Donald Trump is standing in their way.

Wake up!

He is carrying some GOD awful baggage..

That's okay, I'll take the baggage over a prostitute bedding it with La Raza.

You can go and vote for Jeb or Walker or any of these other fools siding with illegals. I'll stand with Trump and the American people, come what come may, time and the hour runs through the roughest day.

The difference is that when 2008 brought us Sarah Palin, she nearly singlehandedly outed the Uniparty.

It took a few election cycles for it to get through to conservatives, but we understand the game now, for good. The Left/Right UNIPARTY is the problem. There is no conflict between their goals; they ALL WANT TO DESTROY OUR SOVEREIGNTY.

This is a Uniparty NWO putsch and Trump is standing in the way.

Me too.

There is no one on the stage right now besides Trump that I trust.

The cause cannot effect the cure.

So he doesn’t pass the purist test, neither do 90% of the Repubs we have serving. Find something he is saying now like building a fence on the Canadian border that makes no sense.

Pray America is waking

SOVEREIGNTY is the ONLY issue and Trump is the only defender of America right now. All the others try to slide through by their goody goody attitude toward ILLEGALS. They don’t care about America, they only care about Political Correctness. What a breath of fresh air that Trump is telling it like it is!

Helloooo, your candidate today is an amnesty pimp. Give it a rest Cincinatus. You’re candidate is a loser and has no chance

Walker took office Jan 2011 by June 2011 instate tuition for illegals was revoked (only gov and state ever to do this).

LOL! The media and GOPe are so obvious. Let us write about Trump and Al. Then they will abandon Trump for Jeb. Ha ha ha, it is not happening.

You need to understand Trump supporters are not going to leave him no matter what the media says about him.

It's a sign of desperation when one must resort to attacking others due to lack of good things to tout about their own choice. I like Walker but he's likely to get pushed into the dustbin due to lack of fire when it comes to politicking.

Here's some useful links for those that really want to make a positive difference and who aren't already donating to something worthwhile:

Donate to Cruz
