Donald Trump Wanted To Make Charlie Rangel HUD Secretary In 1999
Buzz Feed ^ | July 10, 2015 | Christopher Massie

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said in November 1999 that, if elected president, he wanted to make Charles Rangel, the Democratic Congressman from New York, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

At the time, real estate magnate was considering running for president as a member of the Reform Party. Asked by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer if he’d “given some thought to a potential Trump Cabinet,” Trump mentioned Rangel as his top choice to lead HUD.

“Well, let’s go — like HUD,” Trump said. “I think Charlie Rangel is a terrific guy. He’s a congressman from New York. He has been a powerful guy. Now the Democrats are not in power, but I think he’d be terrific at HUD.”

Rangel has been a member of the House since 1971 and is still in office. His website touts his record promoting affordable housing in New York’s 13th Congressional District.

Other Trump Cabinet picks would have included Colin Powell as secretary of state and General Electric CEO Jack Welch as treasury secretary. Trump said that John McCain would be “a very interesting candidate” for secretary of defense.

In the interview, Trump also predicted that, if he won the Reform Party’s nomination, he would “take more votes away from the Democrats” than the Republicans in the general election. He ended up withdrawing from the race in February 2000.

Who would trust this shapeshifting political wheeler and dealer who has a history of championing liberal policies - his advocacy for gun laws, for choice and partial birth abortion, his personal fight to take away private property rights , his public approval for universal healthcare, his support for Harry Reid, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Al Sharpton, Chuck Schumer, Charlie Rangel, (there are more) and his moving target party registration that's all part of his deal?

Donald Trump:

Republican (Before 1999)
Reform Party (1999–2001)
Democratic (2001–09)
Republican (2009–11)
Independent (2011–12)
Republican (2012--present)
???

And this matters now how? That was 1999. Can you please give it a break. Trump, like most real people evolved over the years.

Trust him? Yes. Definitely trust him more than career politicians like Walker, Bush, Rubio, and their ilk.

Every morning when we wake up we are confronted with a new Donald Trump grotesquerie.

You can set your watch by the rapidity with which his defenders will tell us that the messenger is crazy, that the messenger is a Rino, that it doesn't matter because everybody does it, that it doesn't matter because he is electable.

There is ZERO chance of changing a Trump fan into a Walker fan.

Give it up.

Walker is a loser.

I guess all these Trump ‘exposes’ will get more grotesque as time goes on.

I guess they ‘MSM’etal pulled all the people that are still trying to find out what BO got on his SAT’s or whatever.

I hear that Trump took some gum from a movie theater when he was 7.

He scraped it from under the seat.

Then again, the extreme extreme ‘Pro Trump’ radicals (just as bad as the anti Trump radicals) will have proof that when he found out the gum was purchased from the theater he went and paid for it .. you know, kind of like Lincoln walking the 10 miles -in a blizzard - uphill (BOTH WAYS) to return the 12 cents change that he shorted a customer.

If it matters (or not) - Trump isn’t quite my ‘cup of tea’ but he is at least shining the light on the crooked bunch of SOB’s that are currently making our laws and running rampant over us - Even our ‘so called’ leaders sit back and do nothing but huff and puff every now and then - like whenever the D’s give them permission to ‘sound tough’.

As to Trump and his ‘helping’ Sharpton etal, even Tony S knew you had to grease the palms of certain people just to keep certain avenues open... Of course when ‘they’ outlived Tony and his ilks usefelness, they were ‘fed to the fishes’.

As you can see by your own post -he was only a D for 8 years. He is 69 years old, so that leaves 51 years of voting time - he was mostly a Republican. Give it a rest - you are getting tiresome. Do you have news alerts set for anti-Trump articles? Or do you spend countless hours combing the archives? He also said he wanted Oprah for VP. Do you really think he is serious? Let’s now talk about Walker’s flip flopping on issues, shall we?

Walker is a good third or fourth choice for the GOP nomination. But he has about as much charisma as Bob Dole.

I'm even less of a Republican than Donald Trump! I've never joined any political party or voted in a primary election. I'm disgusted all politicians, I just vote Republican because they are usually less disgusting than Democrats!

Hillary Clinton:

liar 178

dishonest 123

untrustworthy 93

Donald Trump:

arrogant 58

blowhard 38

idiot 35

I think it will be easier for Donald Trump to convince 53% of voters (outside of the margin of fraud) that he's not an "idiot" than for Hillary to convince 50% of voters that she's not "a liar", not "dishonest" and not "untrustworthy".

Trump is a genius. He may be an evil genius, but he's a genius.

Who has a chance?.. The fight has not even started yet..

Sure a few stoners may see Trump thru the “HAZE” but even Trump is not fully visible YET..

He is carrying some GOD awful baggage..
TRUMP “shrines” may be torn down SOON..
