When will we see the enthusiasm and the iconoclasm of Donald even approached in the orthodox right wing?

The difference in passion with which Donald lately voices respective lefty and righty positions makes it look a lot like something bigger than Trump is behind Trump.

If it takes a Johnny-come-lately to school the right wing in what it ought have been doing all the time, so be it.

You make a good point, and I hope that one long-term effect of the Trump phenomenon will be to embolden REAL conservatives to talk back to the media - to challenge their premises, to challenge their smug superiority - unashamedly and boldly and intelligently.
