Medical marijuana does well in national study
Wyoming Tribune Eagle ^ | Sep 02, 2015 | Mike Hinton

The National Cancer Institute recently released its report on medical marijuana. The overview of their conclusion is, THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) caused a 45 percent reduction in bladder cancer, remission in breast and liver cancer and more.

They have determined that there is no lethal dose of marijuana. And addictive potential is considerably lower than any other medicine available.

Among their findings, they have found that cannabis is not associated with adverse pulmonary function and does not cause lung cancer or any aerodigestive tract cancers. Cannabis does not cause other types of cancer either.

They found cannabis has great anti-tumoral activity. Through their testing they have determined that cannabis is more effective than conventional antiemetics (drugs that ease nausea). And inhaled marijuana was more effective in chemo-induced nausea than any other currently available treatment.

Some of their other findings are: Cannabis appetite increase at 75 percent compared to the most effective medicine that has a 49 percent increase; weight increase at 11 percent compared to the most effective current medicine that has a 3 percent increase.

In opiate resistant cancer pain, marijuana had significant pain intensity relief, substantial analgesic effects, antiemetic effects and appetite simulation.

They also proved THC to be more effective then codeine. Some 10 mg of THC was more effective then 60 mg of codeine. There was no increase of the THC dose needed in long-term pain management.

Inhaled THC was shown to be more effective in neuropathic pain than current medicine. It also showed improved sleep quality and sense of well being and less anxiety.

These are just some of the findings of the National Cancer Institute. (http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/hp/cannabis-pd)

The federal government has made it so no state can be prosecuted for implementing a medical marijuana program. That is why the 23 states (and our nation’s capital) with medical marijuana programs are still around.

So basically pot has a clean bill of health with absolutely no counter indications, huh?

Great.

Pot is a human right! I demand taxpayer subsidized pot and free pot for all undocumented Democrats as well!

Is cancer the only possible counterindication?

Just like we subsidize everything else that doesn't cause cancer. 9_9

No, it says it doesn’t cause lung cancer or other types of cancers.

Pot may not be a human right, but subjecting a person to prison for owning the wrong plant is the height of Tyranny, and any Prohibitionist who espouses such a position can hardly be considered conservative, and indeed engages in the same type of arbitrary law which leftists cherish.

If someone is not committing force or fraud against another person, nor recklessly endangering them, then that person is not infringing on anybody's rights and should be left the f--k alone.

For the state, whether unilaterally or enabled by a democratic mob, to imprison people for possession of contraband is ludicrous. Those who espouse such Tyrannical laws must necessarily espouse the no-knock warrants and fishing expeditions (lacking probable cause) which are necessary to enforce them.

Prohibitionist are nanny-staters, and belong in the pantheon of arbitrary authoritarians who need a bloated state in order to establish their utopian vision of "proper" society.

No thanks. I'll take actual freedom, with all of its challenges, warts, and inconveniences. Nothing is superior to that.

Education, not legislation.

There is a pill form of medical marijuana that has the same efficacy as smoked pot but does not make the person taking it intoxicated. For some reason there is no demand for the pill form of marijuana.

But it F’s the brains of once functional recreational users who jumped on the same bandwagon as really disabled people.
Those people are just losers compared to those who need it.

If it is used in this study as something other than to just get baked, then why is its use any worse than the spectrum of other unpronounceable man-made chemicals we use on ourselves for medical reasons?

You're thinking of Marinol, which contains only one of marijuana's active ingredients. According to its makers, it does get one high: "You should not smoke marijuana while using MARINOL Capsules. It is possible to get too much dronabinol (an overdose), especially if you use MARINOL Capsules and smoke marijuana at the same time. Signs of a mild overdose would include drowsiness, euphoria , heightened sensory awareness, altered time perception, red eyes, dry mouth and rapid heart rate (tachycardia)."
