Gun control groups accused of ‘swatting’ open-carry permit holders, putting lives at risk

Second Amendment groups are accusing the gun control lobby of putting law-abiding owners of firearms in danger by urging people to call the police on anyone carrying a gun in public.

As more states relax rules about open-carrying of guns, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has taken to social media to urge the public to assume gun-toters are trouble, and to call the cops on anyone they feel may be a threat.

“If you see someone carrying a firearm in public—openly or concealed—and have ANY doubts about their intent, call 911 immediately and ask police to come to the scene,” the group wrote on its widely followed Facebook page.

I think those making the calls should be arrested and held for 72 hours then charged with a crime of false 911 calling.

When they get their $10,000 fine maybe they will think twice before doing it again.

Get a holster, modify it so its release clasp has thumbtacks that are facing out. Bait ‘em and stick ‘em...: )

File a FOIA request to learn the identity of the caller. Then sue them.

Those making calls should be identified, hunted down and made to pay.

Problem is, they can ‘spoof’ numbers from the internet by a program and hide behind a proxy I believe. Hard to catch.

The 911 caller can see the number calling immediately.

Tracing is only necessary to find a location. If people make a false report on the I(S**K)Phone or I’m liberal Android then they can be traced.

I agree if you make a false report then they should be prosecuted. Lie-beral are such jerks and never think that they will be prosecuted for their stupid antics.

With black terrorist killing police right now this is a very dangerous thing to do

Well, they did not reference me by name, but I was the man at the counter with the holstered pistol that the “Moms Demanding Action” called for the police to immediately shoot.

It is nice to see these rabid haters exposed.

We might see extreme gun control after the elections anyway. Constituents have gone crazy.

We have insufficient laws and/or prosecutions against false accusations because of local governments’ “nosy neighbors” policies and accompanying inhibitions against acting on false reports.

many swatting calls are made using caller ID spoofing. The punk uses the victim’s phone number, calls 911, and claims that he’s already killed people or is holding hostages. Then the punk brags about it on Twitter, Facebook, or DemocraticUnderground.com. Sick turds like Mike Malloy have actually publically encouraged this.
If the swatter caller is found, and is also found to have gloated online, up the charges to attempted capital murder - or capital murder if someone gets killed in the process.

How those who engage in SWATTING any different than holding a gun at someone’s head?

The only difference is that you are having someone ELSE do it.

Laws need to address this and put people away for a long time, or if they lead to deaths of others, they need to be executed.

**Not valid if carry person is a person of color, LGBTQIA, Female in appearance, or in the inner city
