“Cops acted stupidly” - President Barack Obama, July 2009

That was a VERY significant statement, and one not fully grasped at the time.

For those not in the know, Obama's statement was in reference to the minor dust-up between black Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates and the Cambridge police.

A decent government official would have said something like "I'll wait into all the facts are in", or "I don't comment on local issues."

But no. Obama IMMEDIATELY took the side of the black professor against the white cop. One reason that was so tragic is that Obama really had a chance to heal the racial divide in this country. He was in a unique position to do so. And he chose to make it worse instead.

And he’s been doing that over and over again, since then. I’m starting to detect a pattern.
