Still Pining for Mitt: Some GOP Donors Hoping Romney Will Jump in the Race
National Review ^ | 8-31-2015 | Eliana Johnson & Elaina Plott

Though this election cycle was supposed to feature the most impressive field of Republican presidential candidates in decades, a handful of the party’s major donors and bundlers remain underwhelmed by their options. They are longing for the bad old days, and Mitt Romney is still their man. These holdouts continue to hope that the former Massachusetts governor, who said in January he would not run for a third time, will change his mind. They believe he could dispel the chaos that has reigned over the Republican field for months. Though they gave plenty of money to Romney’s presidential campaigns, this year they’re keeping their wallets shut, waiting for him to reenter the fray.

Dr. Greggory DeVore, who in 2012 raised more than $1 million for Romney, is one of these men. He’s even printed up Romney 2016 bumper stickers, and his black Audi S8 has two pasted on the back. “Romney 2016,” they say. “I told you so — now let’s fix it.”

Some GOP Donors Hoping Romney Will Jump in the Race

Makes as much sense as anything the GOPe have done.

Actually, this sounds like a good plan to me. It will split the GOPe vote, 2% for Romney, and 2% for Bush. This will make room for stars like Santorum and Pataki to shine.

Team Romney will Palinize Mr. Trump,
as they did Mr. Cain (they are racists, too).

Yup. Well they sorta get it. But ‘it’ interferes with their liberal agenda. So they can’t actually ‘get’ it.

But they can disrupt, mock, condemn, vilify and advocate shooting those that actually do. All while claiming the mantle of conservatism.

“There is not a single person in the entire country that wants Mitt Romney except maybe his wife.”

Some Mormons see Willard as the fulfillment of Joseph Smith’s “White Horse Prophecy.”

You have got to be kdding!!! Romney was the worst, weak sister POTUS candidate.....worse, even, then John McCain. I mean, come on, he let low life, CNN reporter “Candy Crowley” wipe up the floor with him!!! Donald Trump would have thrown her off the debate stage in a new York minute!!! Romney hid in the corner, like a little baby!!! No way!!!

I received my issue of NR and have realized how off the rails the thinking is there.

No more dynasties, No Bush, No Clinton, No Kennedy, No Romney. None

The fact that NR does not see Romney as a copy of Jeb Bush and that he would not at all appeal to the disenfranchised conservative voters is a proof of their blindness

In an election between Bernie Sanders and Romney, I might just vote for the one who admits he’s a socialist. Romney might get my vote over Hillary, but Sanders would be a tougher question.

Take down Trump by showing how awful and slimy rich people can be? I guess I see where they are going with that.

Yeh I’m sure Mitt can’t wait to jump in the race and hear Trump talk about how he choked in 2012 night and day. :-)
