Shock Poll: 59% Back Trump On Deportation of Illegals

Immigration: When Donald Trump proposed mandatory deportation of illegal aliens, pundits and politicians on both sides of the political aisle were appalled. But on this issue it looks like Trump has the public on his side.

The fire from the right was almost as fierce as that from the left. "It's not conservative and it's not realistic and it does not embrace American values," said Jeb Bush.

Sen. Lindsey Graham called it "absolute gibberish."

Conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer called the idea "crackpot" and "morally obscene."

But the prize for overheated rhetoric goes to Hillary Clinton, who said Trump wants to "literally pull people out of their homes and their workplaces, round them up, put them, I don't know, in buses, boxcars, in order to take them across our border."

So what do these folks say about the fact that the majority of Americans back Trump on this?

The latest IBD/TIPP Poll asked 913 adults coast to coast if they "support or oppose mandatory deportation of illegal immigrants in the U.S." Not surprisingly, 87% of Trump supporters back the proposal.

What's surprising is that 59% of the overall public does as well. Mandatory deportation gets majority support in all age groups except 18-24, every income group, among both women and men, at every level of educational achievement, and in rural, urban and suburban regions.

More interesting still is the fact that 64% of independents and 55% of moderates support deportation.

Even among Hispanics, the poll found 40% backed mandatory deportation

If we were really concerned about American workers we would not be bringing in 1.1 million LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS A YEAR along with 640,000 guest workers annually while we have the lowest labor participation rates in 38 years. Immigrants are taking American jobs and depressing wages. We have a huge surplus of labor. We have fewer native born Americans working today than we did in 2000 despite the fact that natives accounted for two-thirds of the increase in the labor force.

I don’t mean to dispute you, I just like to point out that the country is not a job producer. In fact, when politicians get out of the way and at least abide by the rule of law, capitalism allows for opportunities.

Your point is well taken. It’s a common point and it is a great concern.

The Rule of law provides guidelines for the immigration process. It is for economic as well as for other reasons, of which I am also greatly concerned.

The rule of law takes care of it.

This current lawlessness has far reaching implications, not the least of which is economic, and employment opportunities.

The country is not just an employment arena, though.

In terms of jobs and wages, the marketplace is working. We have a surplus of labor meaning that employers have their pick of employees and can offer them lower wages. If we had a shortage of labor, wages would be going up, not down.

We now have crony capitalism. Government at all levels controls about 40% of GDP. The government picks winners and losers. The "capitalists" vie for government contracts and in return, they donate money to the politicians. Almost one out of two in this country gets a government check.

The Rule of law provides guidelines for the immigration process. It is for economic as well as for other reasons, of which I am also greatly concerned.

I am not talking about process. I am talking about numbers. We are taking in too many legal immigrants and guest workers. There is no correlation between our intake and our job/skill needs. We need to drastically reduce the numbers.

This current lawlessness has far reaching implications, not the least of which is economic, and employment opportunities. The country is not just an employment arena, though.

Immigrants use our welfare system to a much greater degree than the native born. We are importing poverty, which costs the taxpayers, especially at the state and local levels. Our schools, hospitals, and other social services are being overrun. It hurts the quality of services and increases the costs.

We have taken in 35 million legal permanent immigrants since 1990. We have just had the two highest decades of legal immigration in American history. In 1970 one in 21 was foreign-born; today it is a little less than 8, the highest in 105 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history.

87% of the legal immigrants are minorities as defined by the USG. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities, thanks in large part to immigration, legal and illegal. The demography of this country has been changed forever. By 2043 non-Hispanic whites will be less than 50% of the population compared to 89% in 1970. Immigrants and minorities vote more than two to one Dem.

The bottom line is that this country is being colonized by the Third World.

Ok. I’m just saying it’s even worse There is an onslaught of destruction of our culture and heritage that goes with this. It is an invasion. In many places and instances Americans are second to the immigrants even the illegals. Language, the rule of law, ways of behavior
disrespect of our military.

Time to get off their lazy fat butts and do the yard work themselves.
I take care of 20 acres and I’m a 67 year old man.
They are worried about obesity; get off your LARD CUSHION and get to work, it does wonders for your figure and your health.

Damn Good Idea; 250k per day, per illegal employee, for first offense.
Second offense is 500k per day, per illegal employee.
Plus all company OWNERS, CEO’s, CAO’s, contractors and sub-contractors are subject to 5 years in prison, on a chain gang responsible for construction and maintenance of the walls on both the Southern Boarder and Northern boarder.
Fines to be charged and paid for all court costs.

Because if you do only that, Dems and leftist Reoublicans can find ways to keep them here and use them as political cannon fodder.

We need to pay the cost and get them out. Deporting every one would cost less than Berry sends to ISIS/AQ in a year.

I know of much older folks who supported Obama. It’s not just the young who are easily conned.

This "shock" is BS; it's always been true. Even Latinos in California favored cutting off benefits to illegals by 70%, up until the Democrat and media fear campaign. Proposition 187 still won without them.

Deporting illegals has always been popular with the public unless the pollsters skew the question.

Yup, that is actually what Trump means by ‘The Wall’ The idea of a physical structure is appealing...but it is the withdrawing of benefits that counts.

No jobs, no benefits, no birthright citizenship ....NO ILLEGALS!

Illegals are no longer trafficked here to work; they are being imported to keep whole neighborhoods from turning into ghost towns. Here in NJ they are used to keep school classrooms and Wal-Mart aisles full...
