Republican Party, R.I.P. (1854 – 2016)
Erik Erikson ^ | August 28, 2015 | Erik Erikson

In 1854, confronted by the moral evil of slavery and the inability of the Whigs to provide clarity against it, the Republican Party formed. Whig Party leaders either shifted their party allegiances or quit politics altogether. Even Abraham Lincoln got out of politics for a time.

By 1858, the Republican Party had majorities in almost all Northern States even without a Southern presence. The party won the Presidency for the first time in 1860 and commanded the White House throughout the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century. With the rise of Soviet evil after World War II, the Republicans again commanded the White House repeatedly until the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

The unwillingness/inability of The GOP to confront the illegal alien inundation is the reason for their demise.

In the case of the GOP, it is self-inflicted, they sold their souls to The Cheap Labor Express.

They sold out their constituents for campaign money and betrayed the citizens.

Ah, another reader of "Adios America." Fine book, I started and finished it this past weekend. Coulter persuasively makes the case that immigration is THE KEY ISSUE of this election - if we lose on that, we are completely done for, because there will be 30 million more Dem voters. We won't win on guns, abortion, marriage, taxes, trade, international relations, defense...you name it, and we will lose.

The GOP is dead, as we know it. Either Trump wins and cleans house, effectively creating a new party with the same base, or he's kept from the nomination via dirty tricks and the base leaves...either way, R.I.P. Pray that it ends the first way, that way we get to keep our country.

“I am strongly thinking of dumping my republican membership and vote as an independent...”

Don’t, that’s what they want you to do so that their preferred candidate(s) win. CHECK YOUR STATE’S RULES on primary voting to see if you must be registered to vote...because if not, then candidates like Trump, Cruz and Carson CANNOT win.

Absolutely right. I've been harping on that for a while. The Whigs died because they offered no clear opposition to the pro-slave Dems.

The modern Republicans are dying because they offer no clear opposition to ANYTHING the Dems do.

> It’s not just the RINO wing which stabbed us. All the so called conservatives & Tea partiers we elected have also gone underground. Must be something in DC water.

Well most politicians are silver spoon attorneys so we should know better than to vote for them from now on. We need statesman who have integrity to fill their roles...

The pronunciation.

What’s the difference between a mosquito and a lawyer?
One is a blood-sucking parasite, the other is an insect.

Why did God make snakes just before lawyers?
To practice.

You’re trapped in a room with a tiger, a rattlesnake and a lawyer. You have a gun with two bullets. What should you do?
Shoot the lawyer. Twice.

This guy is desperate to regain some credibility after banning Trump. Unfortunately, it is too late.

RIP. I knew him well. In fact, I’d not like this to get around but enough people know... I slept with him for years. But lately I couldn’t stand to look at him. The stuff he said turned my stomach. And the stuff he did, or rather the stuff he didn’t do. He was weak, plain and simple. I told him this was going to happen to him if he didn’t listen. He wouldn’t listen to anyone around him who cared, who had any sense. It’s really sad but at the same time he asked for it.

The whole article is just wrapping paper for this comment:
“But in the great moral crises now, the Republican Party finds itself infested with charlatans, conmen, louts, and Donald Trump.”

That our dear(s) GOPe party will soon be deceased does nothing but bring US great joy. After giving them life support for all these many years, I’ll be damned if WTP will be asked to pay for their elite funeral, flowers, grave site, and Reverend to give them their last words. Toss the party into the fire pit, turn on the gas and cremate them. They certainly made no difference when difference counted, and at present WTP really have no interest in how they depart their earthly bounds We’ll send no flowers nor prayers of RIP. Just do it swiftly.

There is something of the feel of the last days of the Roman republic. Not of the empire, but of the republic.

I haven’t read Ann’s book. I have been writing about this since 2006 when W said, “See ya at the signin’” and I figured out that the GOP was as corrupt as the Democrats. For years I was Virginia Patriot at Townhall and Michelle Malkin’s site.
I wrote an essay in 2006 to make the case that the illegal alien inundation was an existential threat and we must elect a President that would enforce the laws or we would lose them and the country.
McCain was the opposite of what I had in mind.
I started looking into how the RNC can nominate such candidates.
They would have run the same playbook as McCain and Romney to nominate ¡Yeb! except that Trump stepped in.

The same interests who supported slavery support illegal immigration and guest workers today. They are all forms of cheap, compliant labor.

Believe it or not, Romney was actually pretty good on immigration (not much else, though, and no charisma or fight in him). Read Ann’s book, it is a real eye-opener.

Note that I many times find her to be irritating or a bit much...but the book is very well researched (the notes are almost 50% as long as the text) and the points that she makes are fantastic.

The villains are the Dems, who want 30 million new voters, the big companies, who want cheap labor, the GOPe, who want to keep big corporate donors happy at the expense of their base (and who can’t see beyond the end of their noses), the media - who are more Leftist than the Dems, if that’s possible, and all of the government and private workers who benefit from illegals being here. The only ones screwed are the average American...all of us. We are on the verge of literally losing our country to an invasion of foreigners, aided and abetted by a political party whose ideas are also imports - from Socialist Europe.
