Green Berets have growing doubts of duties with skittish political leadership
Washington Times ^ | Aug 30 , 2015 | Rowan Scarborough

They were the first troops to hit the ground in Afghanistan while al Qaeda’s dirty work still smoldered back in the United States.

On foot, helicopter and horseback, ArmySpecial Forces showed that if the U.S. was to win a long counterinsurgency war against Islamic extremists, the special skills of Green Berets would be fundamental.

Nearly 14 years later, these soldiers, some of the military’s smartest and best trained, are still creating lots of headlines, but not necessarily for heroics.

All enemies Foreign and DOMESTIC, means they should be attacking Washington!

But they won’t, for after all it is congress that hands out O6 rank and above.

I have no idea what has happened in the twenty years since I got my DD214 but IIRC the mission of the Green Berets is to have each team of six or so be a training unit to create a brigade of insurgents. Not exactly “special ops”. Maybe their mission has changed, I don’t know.

Seems to me that we need to put them back on task and the country they are needed in is this one!

I’m sorry to be preachy. I’m sure a lot of people post things tongue in cheek or out of frustration, but the last thing this country needs is for some border line schizophrenic to read Free Republic and think he is the vanguard of the restoration.

Well, that would be unfortunate.

And while I am certain that nobody here would be actually posting anything that could be construed as creating an issue with Title 18, Section 2385 of Federal Law; it certainly seems the feeling that perhaps some non-electoral means of “restoration” has increased in the last couple of years, wouldn’t you say?

There is a lot of frustration floating around and a growing feeling that the system is little more than a soft tyranny. When you have increasing repression wearing a mantle of electoral processes and patriotic symbols to give credence to legitimacy, a system that seems to be working against the well-being of most of its constituents for the advancement of a ruling class agenda, that frustration may be a natural by product...

I’m not sure how we break out of the current situation. The left consolidates power in Washington, in the presidency, and in the supreme court. When Republicans get back into office they can either use that consolidated power (thereby cementing its legitimacy) or they can play by the old rules and fail to role back whatever individual actions were implemented when the left held power.
Even if Republicans truly wanted to restore the checks and balances of the constitution, trying to do so would be self defeating.
Anyone who expects a Caesar or Napoleon to restore the Republic is not much of a student of history.

The spite house has been down for 6+ years now and no one but the constitutional patriots give a hoot.

My thoughts about the Green Beret? They are worried about being put on a chopper with about 30 others and the weapons provided by the head of the executive branch and his adviser or the previous secretary of state plus leaked/sold intel being used to bring them down.

They need sacrificial fasting prayer warriors first and foremost for they are in places where only angels will go and the battle for this nation is definitely spiritual. We are at war. Put on the gear of God and pray and watch.

The prevailing pattern since the election of Franklin Roosevelt in 1932 has been for the Democrats to expand the role of government when they hold the Presidency, Congress, and Supreme Court. When the Republicans return to power, they do not repeal or roll back the new programs imposed by the other party, but may at best nibble at the edges or soften enforcement. With the exception of Reagan, Republican Presidents have performed their own, smaller scale governmental expansions, e.g., the younger Bush expanding Medicare coverage.

The best shot to break the 80+ years of governmental expansion is Ted Cruz. Ben Carson's heart is in the right place, but he may be overwhelmed by the Washington borg. The rest of the field would merely dust off the old Bush appointees or draw from the Beltway neo-conservative think tanks like Heritage Foundation and it would be business as usual. Trump is a totally unknown element. He might be an American version of Juan Peron, a populist who rejected both the Marxists and the old school, classical liberals of the Frederic Bastiat type.

If I were a foreign muslim commie wanting to take down the US military, I’d get rid of and demoralize the Green Beret and other special forces.

The ones tossed out of the military are classified as “terrorists” by Homeland inSecurity now. This country is sickening and insane with how they treat our military.

Even better would be using the US military to overthrow existing governments in Libya and Syria. Just make sure not to use the US forces to occupy the country. While you’re at it you might remove US forces from Iraq before the existing government can consolidate power. This way you can increase the odds that whoever is able to consolidate power will be made up of militant and fundamentalist factions and/or pro Iranian elements.

a side armed , uniformed squad of United States Armed Forces members enter the Oval Office . Accompanied by the Sergeants-or-arms of both U.S. Senate and U.S. House , along with the operations director of the SS , and they announce : “ Sir , you are under arrest for high crimes and treason against the United States of America . You will come with us at this time “

Cool story, bro...

And then what? The people that Obama and the congress critters all answer to would still be sitting in their New York corner offices with the puppet strings still attached to everyone not arrested.

We would still have the hundreds of thousands of pages of federal laws and rules, millions of government employees (many armed and with power to arrest), 18 Trillion in debt and a Federal Reserve to rule them all still in place and carrying on biz as usual...

Anyone that believes that Obama is more than a symptom of the problem has not been paying attention. Your story (as heart warming as it is) is somewhat analogous to a doctor removing a wart from a patient that has lung cancer...
