A Response to Free Republic Trump Critics
Vanity

Posted on 08/31/2015 12:43:37 AM PDT by Behind the Blue Wall

Why Trump?

1. Illegal immigration is the only issue; if it's not stopped soon, America will become like California -- a demographic one-party state.

2. Politics is about name-recognition and none of the other candidates besides Trump has the name recognition to challenge Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton.

Therefore, Trump is the only candidate with a chance to win who has promised to do the only thing that matters.

Trump quote:

“It’s always good to do things nice and complicated so that nobody can figure it out.”

The thing is, someone can always figure it out, given the time and the proper motivation.

I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him.

It's not a matter of trust, Catherine. It's a matter of gamble.

It's not a gamble any longer with the GOP. I know the outcome of their spinning wheel. They WILL NOT follow through. (It's actually worse than that; I'm fairly convinced they truly are liberals who are part of a scheme to control both parties, so that the national direction is always toward socialism.)

So, what do I have to lose gambling on Trump? Not a thing.

At his very worst he'll do what the GOP does...that is, take us in a socialist direction.

If he follows through on the deal, then he'll build a wall, control immigration, hold the line on life, hold the line on guns, impose tariffs, end the trade deals, lower some taxes, and deconstruct the republican party.

If we're lucky, he'll choose Cruz as his VP.

"Now if Cruz were a strong leader, his most devoted followers would heed his words and guidance. Those who had been attacking Trump and his followers would change course, by way of showing that they respected Cruz and his judgement, so much so as to follow his lead."

Wow. You really don't understand, do you?

Ted Cruz doesn't have "devoted followers" who pant behind him, waiting to take direction from him, holding back on their opinions until he gives it to them. That sad description belongs to Trump's people, who are, indeed, followers, and possessed of an unhealthy degree of devotion to a politician. And the fact that you see nothing wrong with the phrase proves it.

Cruz is a politician, a man. His supporters aren't looking for a demagogue or a hero to worship. We have minds of our own.

We also understand that while Trump's tabloid campaign blares on, Cruz is busy working, laying his game in every state. He is doing exactly what he needs to benefit himself and his campaign.

Xzins, do you honestly think that Trump is prepared to sell off his real estate holdings, put his assets in a blind trust and fully disclose his finances? I just don't think he's prepared to do this.

Fantasy Writer should change his name to LYING writer.

I was dealing with him and his lies regarding Ted Cruz last week.

I looked. The Cruz quotes are not there. He has NEVER articulated the life and death struggle we face due to unchecked invading hordes. He has NEVER articulated the incalculably devastating toll America and Americans have already paid at the hands of illegals. I am unaware of any binding promise he has made to build a wall—but I know that if it had been made, his supporters would have unearthed it by now.

In that scenario our choices would be:

A: Fail to stop illegal immigration, forget ever outlawing abortion.

B. Stop illegal immigration, then outlaw abortion.

Abortion IS ALREADY ILLEGAL, we don't need a vote on this, we need a president who will acknowledge that children are persons under the 14th Amendment.

So you are so-so Cruz supporter? You appear devoted, given the amount of time and energy you spend supporting him.

The point is a simple one Cruz says it is foolish to attack Trump and his supporters. Either Cruz is right or wrong. Given the ongoing fervor of the Cruz’ supportets’ attacks on Trump and his supporters, the Cruz people believe he is wrong.

You’re dancing.

It’s too late, though. You’ve already admitted that you agree with Coulter’s stance that abortion doesn’t matter until the border is secured.

That’s an indefensible stance. It’s incompatible with conservatism...indeed, with human decency and respect for innocent life.

I remember reading that very post a couple of days ago.

I find it odd that a longtime Freeper could be so completely ignorant of Ted Cruz and what he’s about.

I have asked politely to see the Cruz statements in question on repeated occasions. If the statements exist, why has no Cruz supporter ever cited them? (I did a thorough search and could not locate them. If they exist, why don’t they come up on an internet search?)

"So you are so-so Cruz supporter? You appear devoted, given the amount of time and energy you spend supporting him."

It's a conservative activism forum, genius. What kind of posts do you expect to see? Restaurant reviews?

What you will not see is Cruz supporters fawning over our candidate and calling ourselves "devoted followers." We'll leave the personality cult up to Trump folks.

"The point is a simple one Cruz says it is foolish to attack Trump and his supporters. "

He's speaking for himself. He isn't in the habit of trying to tell his supporters what to do and how to act.

You really need to shake that politician-as-tin-god concept.

"Either Cruz is right or wrong. Given the ongoing fervor of the Cruz’ supportets’ attacks on Trump and his supporters, the Cruz people believe he is wrong."

He's right because it's in his personal interest to avoid getting caught up in Trump's tabloid mess. Cruz has better things to do.

But those of us who don't support Trump aren't going to shut up and go away.

That’s a good question because they’re easy to find. And they’ve been all over this site from the time Cruz announced...well before, in fact.

That is not a law, iirc. It is an affectation by politicians. I would expect Trump to 'just say no.'

This is a paragraph from fortune.com. Elsewhere I've read that neither John Kerry nor Nancy Pelosi have blind trusts.

But despite the perks and the recent press, only a few federal lawmakers actually have a blind trust. According to the Senate ethics committee, just 7 out of 100 U.S. Senators have gone through the approval process to set one up. In the House of Representatives, the percentage is even smaller. As of 2010, only 12 of the 435 members of the House had an official blind trust, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. And those numbers haven’t changed much in the past decade.

Btw, Cruz was my first choice. At one time I was actively trying to recruit friends and family members to vote for him. The shift came when he joined Glenn Beck at the border to distribute soccer balls and teddy bears. That’s when I took a harder look at his illegal immigrant stand, and found it lacking.

Another problem is the reaction of Cruz supporters when I ask them to cite Cruz’ strongest statement re the illegal invasion. Usually the question alone is sufficient to incite them into attack mode against me. This wouldn’t be necessary if they had some strong, forceful Cruz statements to offer instead.

Of course all children are persons; how could it be in question? Does the opening of a mother’s vagina have magical powers?

We have always had those among us here that are from the “other side.” How can ‘Behind the Blue Wall’ not be one of them?

There is little to gain from playing their game incessantly.

And yet what good are you doing Cruz with all these unbridled broadsides? Your fellow Cruz supporters—the ones incapable of seeing the wisdom in Cruz’ approach—cheer you on. Others are alienated, sometimes permanently. Do you think if Cruz were on this forum, he’d praise you for alienating all but the already-committed Cruz supporters?

Thanks ... I for one think it is Cruz or Lose. I will not support the trojan horse candidate who has sent Hitlerly money less than 10 years ago.

One question the Trumpets won't answer is that with his history of flip flopping, how can they guarantee he won't veer a hard left after being elected.

If I were to bet, I think he would.

It hadn't been that many years ago that we thought John Roberts (SCOTUS) was a conservative too.

‘That’s a good question because they’re easy to find. And they’ve been all over this site from the time Cruz announced...well before, in fact.’

This is the standard reply. ‘ The statements are everywhere.’

Would it be so/too hard for just one Cruz supporter to cite just one statement?

You have a low “attack” threshold.

You say Cruz was your candidate? Then you ought to know more about him and his positions. Don’t expect others to research for you.
