Trumps plan lets them come back AHEAD of those doing it legally.

Not much different than the Gang of 8 really

After 2012 FReepers swore they would only vote for a conservative in 2016.

Seeing them abandon conservatism in droves is sad.

Trump is a crony capitalist who is more an insider than many politicians. This guy has spent decades trading favors with politicians using OPM.

He is not a conservative on any economic or social issues.

This is a very sad time.

So where else do we go? Most of us do support Cruz, but we also have to realize that he may never gain traction, so then what? Not much inspiring from the rest of the field.

I was for Cruz until he screwed up on the Iran deal and then went along with the Trans Pacific Deal that will cost America just like the others have done.

SOoo.. your scale is if you vote some nasty legislation you are a wrong doer?..

WHat (( IF )) it would PASS anyway(legislation) and you’ve ADDED a rider or an amendment to “IT” to water it down with the harm IT WILL DO?... but do less than it would have..

Would you vote for it then?.. OR vote NO to provide COVER for you with your constituents.. in a conniving way?..

TED Cruz does that... because he is more CUNNING that you are..
He knows how Congress works and works within it.. Trump does not..

Trump will need Executive Orders.. to do most of what he says he expects to do..

YOU KNOW>.......... like Obama..

“Illegal immigration is the only issue; ..”

No, it’s not!

What about ending abortion, Obamacare, building up our military again, ending the HHS mandate, which inhibits First Amendment rights, etc..

Anyway, Trump is an amnesty guy.

I wonder if anyone has looked at the real cost of deporting 20 million or so people.

A lot of the illegals own homes, what happens to them? Does the government seize them and if so what is the justification? (I suppose you could say it was bought with money earned illegally; but, unlike with drug kingpins, the actual job itself wasn't illegal. Also, unlike with kingpins, there will typically be mortgages.) Or does the government pay the banks to take them back?

Then there's the issues of anchor babies. The current Supreme Court can't even figure out that a marriage is between a man and a woman, yet we expect them to rule that people born in the country can be deported. For that matter, what about the CHILDREN OF ANCHOR BABIES? Their status gets even murkier.

I realize that Trump is getting a lot of traction on the illegal alien issue, but at some point he needs to put forth an actual plan and not just Obamaesque sound bites.

Hell, some of them are now agreeing with Ann Coulter's statement that she would be okay with abortions being performed in the White House as long as we got rid of illegal aliens.

Of course not. He has spent three decades building an image and suing anyone who dared look behind the curtain.

I guess Trump supporters now support gay marriage as the law of the land, they support Kelo and ENDA too I guess. Maybe they will support the abortion extremist sister for the SCOTUS.

I’ve never seen a FReeper agree with that statement. Which thread? I’d like to ask about that.

See post 392 in response to 382 on this thread.

And I've never even said that I would unilaterally oppose Trump, I'm just not prepared to give him a pass on everything over a single issue.

I agree. With his long liberal past Trump lacks anything of substance on which to run so he threw a bone to conservatives to get their support. Sadly, they've fallen for it.

I have repeatedly asked Trump supporters to name another liberal they trust. None can, of course, yet they mindlessly put their trust in a lifelong liberal like Trump based solely on his campaign promises. That is sad, as we have one of the best conservatives we have had in years in Ted Cruz.

Trump/Cruz 2016. I’m also smart enough to figure out why Cruz does not attack Trump. Trump’s 15-20% of the electorate that he probably has now will certainly throw their support to Cruz and and I would be willing to bet that if Trump decides he’s tired of all the BS he’ll call a national press conference and publically endorse Cruz. Not Bush or any other RINO running. That ain’t happening.

Cruz has praised Trump far more than I ever have. Yet I have been called a Trump worshipper. So does this make Cruz some special level of rarified Trump worshipper?

Cruz supporters do a truly excellent job of undermining support for their candidate.

Oh,and btw; Cruz just said it was “foolish” to attack Trump supporters. Hmm.

That is an excellent post. However, in my case, having been repeatedly accused of worshipping Trump [when nothing could be further from the case] by Cruz supporters, I will have nothing to do with him now or in the future. Being attacked, demeaned, derided, insulted, lied about and misrepresented is one thing. Having my Christian faith disparaged in this manner is too much. Everyone has limits. The Cruz supporters found mine.

CRUZ doesn’t know beans from apple butter about RUNNING a SEVERAL THOUSAND EMPLOYEE COMPANY, let alone a country. He is a politician and a very experienced and brilliant lawyer. Those are his strong points, but he needs maturing and toughening up. He need to learn how to wheel and deal and come out the winner, not just slip something in a bill to make it a little less painful. The IDEAL combine would be TRUMP/CRUZ, but not the other way around. Together they could be dynamic and get this country back on the right path. Cruz supporters gain NOTHING to try to destroy Trump. They can, on the other hand, learn from him.
Also, if I were AGAINST something, I would vote NO! I haven’t seen any evidence of the Republicans keeping their word to those of us who put them in office to stop Obama. Trump will surround himself with experts, just as Reagan did. I’m sure Cruz will have a part to play, maybe even a big part, and he is smart enough not to turn on Trump, which conservative lily white purists are doing.
