Neither Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings nor officials from General Electric would confirm on Friday reports that General Electric Co. had decided against relocating its global headquarters to the city because of Texas politicians’ opposition to the Export-Import Bank.

Republicans Rep. Jeb Hensarling and Sen. Ted Cruz have each been outspoken in their opposition to the Ex-Im Bank, a federal agency that offers loans, loan guarantees and credit insurance to help U.S. firms sell their products overseas.

Hensarling’s opposition to the bank has grown from a small movement two years ago to a full-scale rebellion, dismaying the bank’s supporters among major business lobbying groups. The bank’s charter expired June 30, and it had to suspend consideration of new deals...

I have not even bought GE light bulbs for many years and I have 100s of Sylvania light bulbs stashed. Replaced last GE appliance last year. It is personal for me. Texas will be better off not having those sunny beaches in their midst.

What reports (rumors ?) is his reporter reporting on?

“Neither Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings nor officials from General Electric would confirm on Friday reports that General Electric Co. had decided against relocating its global headquarters to the city because of Texas politicians’ opposition to the Export-Import Bank. “

They don't want Texas for other reasons. They were just saying that to embarrass Cruz and Hanserling and others.

I dumped my GE holdings 20 years ago.

The current CEO has Obama knee pads.

California was once the Golden State that business flocked to. It was conservative and pro business. But then people like Nancy Pelosi came here and other like her from states like Maryland and Connecticut.

Texas, Do you really want all these headquarter people from Connecticut?

Full disclosure, I have been a GE employee for 30 years.

GE is a multi-national corporation that has no loyalty to the USA by definition. They do what is best for GE. If that includes things that are bad for the USA or individual states, they don’t care. Whatever maximizes profits is what they will do. Nothing else matters. They are the epitome of the ruthless robber baron corporation.

It wasn’t always this way, but that is what they have become. I don’t even buy any of their products anymore.

No state more business friendly than Texas.

This is proof GE has a social agenda.

Better yet, open a new Electrical equipment manufacturer to compete with GE and run them out of business. Bring jobs back to the US!

ABSOLUTELY NO LOSS TO TEXAS, given GE's liberal bent.

Why should a State accommodate an incoming Company's political stance rather than the incoming Company accommodating and accepting the state's political rightness?!?

Texas ain't New York...good luck finding a State Income Tax FREE 'liberal' leaning State.

GE, you've made your bed, now enjoy your resting place.

Remember GE not paying taxes for at least the first two years of the obummer Admin? You know there had to be some serious knee and butt action going on there.
