Trump: I’m winning because Americans are 'tired of being the patsies'
The Hill ^ | August 29,2015 | By Mark Hensch

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says he is leading the GOP race because he represents Americans who have had it with their nation coming up short.

“People in this country are smart,” he told listeners at the National Federation of Republican Assemblies’ 2015 conference in Nashville on Saturday.

“We’re tired of being the patsies for everyone,” Trump said.

“There is a big, big, growing-by-leaps-and-bounds silent majority out there. [The 2016 race] is going to be an election based on competence.”

Trump argued he is surging in national polls because he represents the Tea Party supporters ignored by Democrats and betrayed by Republicans.

“I love the Tea Party,” Trump said. “You people have not been treated fairly. These are people who work hard and love their country, and then get beat up by the media. It’s disgusting.”

“At least I have a microphone and can fight back,” the outspoken billionaire added.

Trump indicated he envisions a much wider base for his campaign than traditional Republican voters next election cycle.

“You don’t know how big you are,” he told listeners. “The Tea Party has tremendous power. It’s Democrats, it is evangelicals, it is everybody.”

The New York business mogul also vowed he would not succumb to the prestige and power of Washington’s political establishment if he wins in 2016.

“They go to Washington and they get weak,” Trump said of Democrats and Republicans alike. “They get there and they see these beautiful, vaulted ceilings and they say, ‘Honey, I’ve made it.’ That won’t happen to me, I promise.”

Trump also said he intends on saving taxpayer dollars by focusing his energy on the nation’s capital if elected next year.

Thank you for referencing that article Hojczyk. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Americans, including Trump, need to take the Constitution out of its gift wrapping and get themselves up to speed with the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers.

“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)

“Which part don't you understand the idiot or the socialist?”

Just wasting your time, like you waste everybody else’s.

But seriously, this is a rather open admission that Trump is NOT a TEA Party conseravtive. He doesn't say "we", he says "you people".

Spot on.

Trump is no conservative. His honest followers admit that. They don't care that he isn't, but they will admit it.

Well to TRY to be fair here, he’s kind of between a rock and a hard place.

Sure, a $11+ billionaire is going to say “WE have not been treated fairly.”

In a way it would be true, but it would also be to invite catcalls.

Of course you get that by generating your own meaning of the word “honest.”

This country needs a President who will put some backbone in Congressional Republicans. The past two elections, we have given a mandate to the Congress to stop Obama at every turn and we get sold out each time. Especially bad with the present Congress. Trump is the ONLY one running today that has even a small chance to do this.

Keep scratching your head in confusion nick. You don’t understand what’s happening. You will need to remedy your myopia before you’ll begin to understand what’s happening. You are attempting to understand this election cycle in terms of the last few cycles.

The things you say just don’t matter.

IF I were advising him, I’d suggest Trump say “The people” or maybe “We the people” bringing to mind the way the US constitution begins.

But as potential gaffes go, this is petty.

You do know that the Republican Party itself has supported a single-payor system.

Sorry teacher but it seems, "you people", or you, "Teachers", bought into it too.☺ Of course most teachers are unionized and on the government payroll, so no surprise.

Bless your little heart. Go to that other site where they hate Mr. Trump as much as you do. Why do you hate him so much? I am very curious.

Trump’s position is an odd mix of plutocracy and populism.

He’s not shying away from the fact that he turned millions into billions. He concludes, probably rightly, that this means he deserves to be viewed as an authority on things economic.

And you get where you are by applying your own definition of “conservative”, which you apparently believe includes acceptance and endorsement of socialist single-payer healthcare, land grabbing, crony capitalism, support of far-left liberal kooks like Pelosi, Reid and Clinton, and support of far-left gun bans initiated by anti-gun zealot Dianne Feinstein.

“Donald Trump is an arrogant blowhard(per a poll).”

Ohhhh... a polll. Well, if a poll said that, then my mind is changed.

BTW, “confidence” is not “arrogance”.
