Give Josh Barro credit for candor. When it comes to guns, the New York Times correspondent makes no bones about the kind of draconian, Second Amendment-defying approach he thinks is necessary.
Forget about expanded background checks or other such measures. The only way to have a "big impact on violent crime," according to Barro, is to emulate Australia and "really take away massive amounts of guns that people have, reduce the rate of gun ownership substantially."

Those that advocate mass confiscation or gun grabbing should be the first ones up to the doors to get those guns. They either won’t be walking off the stoop under their own power or they’ll be running off the stoop, beating cheeks in the opposite direction as fast as they can go.

Whorealdo took great offense and I do mean great offense ... really got into it with Greg Gutfield (who also got mad and told Whorealdo to “screw you” - it was epic). Then Bolling told Whorealdo he should give up HIS armed security guards .... no comment from Whorealdo. Interesting exchange - love Gutfeld after that (liked him before). My point being .... these Libs/Leftists/Progs will talk a good talk about taking guns away, but they personally are too much the coward to go do it themselves or live without the protection of guns .... “good for me (the elite) but not for thee (Mr & Mrs America). That’s what I’ve always said. If these idiots want gun confiscation so badly, they can be the ones that get to go door-to-door in the ghettos in Detroit, Chicago, etc. If they believe in it so much, put up or shut up.

So Josh wants to take away your guns and the guns of other law abiding citizens because it is easy to do. But ensuring that the mentally unstable and criminals have no guns is hard to do. So do the easy thing, and join all the leftists in the world who want to disarm the citizenry so the criminals and Democrats can have their way.

So how does one remove all guns?
the crime rate we are seeing is a direct result of the huge number of dysfunctional homes, especially in urban areas. What is the rate of black births to single mothers - 75%, or is it more?? This is the root cause - no fathers in their lives, no home, family teaching of goodness and responsibility, etc.
This is a problem the black community must recognize and correct or tyranny will follow - it is not far away - thank you Obama.
You can’t have a “massive gun grab” until you know who has ‘em and where they are (Australia had gun registration) - that’s why Bloomberg, et al, are pushing for “background checks”.
IMO, whatever/whenever way they try to implement that, they won’t do it in a big splash or right away. They’ll just have “armed and dangerous” warrants issued and let the police take the hits - literally.

A massive gun confiscation program would have a huge impact on crime. Half the police and LEO would resign on principle. The other half would be killed by common criminals or people defending their constitutional rights. Life will quickly become, to borrow from Hobbs, nasty brutish and short. Heck of a job, Barro.
I feel that this is a dangerous argument, because the Elitist class wants to remove the 1st Amendment, too.
