Clinton Foundation considered sending Bill to tyrannical North Korea and Congo for lucrative speeches but Hillary's State Department shot the idea down
Former president's speaking agency was far enough along in the process that it submitted the speech requests to the State Department for review Hillary Clinton legal adviser Cheryl Mills decided Bill couldn't take the gigs, even if the money went to the Clinton Foundation North Korea speaking opportunity came to Bill Clinton from Hillary's brother Tony, but it too was shot down by her staff Another offer was for $650,000 to speak at a Forbes Magazine event in the Congo, home to one of the world's most repressive regimes Clinton would have been required to pose for pictures with brutal African dictators Joseph Kabila and Denis Sassou Nguesso Bill Clinton's high-flying speaking schedule almost included engagements in North Korea and the Congo, where he would have had to meet with some of the world's most brutal dictators, newly surfaced documents show.
Two requests from the agency that books the former president's speeches went to Hillary Clinton's State Department in May and June of 2012. Both were declined under an arrangement that gave State the final sign-off on Bill's engagements overseas.
ABC News published emails on Friday between officials at the State Department, the Harry Walker Agency and the Clinton Foundation, which Citizens United, a conservative watchdog group, obtained as part of a Freedom Of Information Act lawsuit against the Obama administration.
State refused to approve the requests, but putting the ideas on the table indicates Bill Clinton's willingness to embrace dictators in the service of growing his foundation's bottom line, and stuffing his own pockets.

One way or with a return?
“Get that skirt chasin’ horn dog out of sight and out of mine while I’m campaigning for president!”
Did they have girls lined up to, shall we say, keep Bill company when he visited these countries? Bill has problems when he goes too long without, can we say, female companionship.
EXCERPT Uranium investors efforts to buy mining assets in Kazakhstan and the United States led to a takeover bid by a Russian state-owned energy company. The investors gave millions to the Clinton Foundation over the same period, while Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clintons office was involved with approving the Russian bid.
As if to underscore the point, five months later Mr. Giustra held a fund-raiser for the Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative, a project aimed at fostering progressive environmental and labor practices in the natural resources industry, to which he had pledged $100 million.
The star-studded Canadian gala, at a conference center in Toronto, featured performances by Elton John and Shakira and celebrities like Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Robin Williams encouraging contributions from the many so-called F.O.F.s Friends of Frank in attendance, among them Mr. Telfer. In all, the evening generated $16 million in pledges, according to an article in The Globe and Mail.
None of this would have been possible if Frank Giustra didnt have a remarkable combination of caring and modesty, of vision and energy and iron determination, Mr. Clinton told those gathered, adding: I love this guy, and you should, too."
But what had been a string of successes was about to hit a speed bump.
Circa 2010--EX-PRES CLINTON IN MOSCOW HAVING A LAUGH W/ PUTIN
By June 2009, a little over a year after the star-studded evening in Toronto, Uranium Ones stock was in free-fall, down 40 percent. Mr. Dzhakishev, the head of Kazatomprom, had just been arrested on charges that he illegally sold uranium deposits to foreign companies, including at least some of those won by Mr. Giustras UrAsia and now owned by Uranium One.
Publicly, the company tried to reassure shareholders. Its chief executive, Jean Nortier, issued a confident statement calling the situation a complete misunderstanding. He also contradicted Mr. Giustras contention that the uranium deal had not required government blessing. When you do a transaction in Kazakhstan, you need the governments approval, he said, adding that UrAsia had indeed received that approval.
But privately, Uranium One officials were worried they could lose their joint mining ventures. American diplomatic cables made public by WikiLeaks also reflect concerns that Mr. Dzhakishevs arrest was part of a Russian power play for control of Kazakh uranium assets.
At the time, Russia was already eying a stake in Uranium One, Rosatom company documents show. Rosatom officials say they were seeking to acquire mines around the world because Russia lacks sufficient domestic reserves to meet its own industry needs.
It was against this backdrop that the Vancouver-based Uranium One pressed the American Embassy in Kazakhstan, as well as Canadian diplomats, to take up its cause with Kazakh officials, according to the American cables. We want more than a statement to the press, Paul Clarke, a Uranium One executive vice president, told the embassys energy officer on June 10, the officer reported in a cable. That is simply chitchat. What the company needed, Mr. Clarke said, was official written confirmation that the licenses were valid.
The American Embassy ultimately reported to the secretary of state, Mrs. Clinton. Though the Clarke cable was copied to her, it was given wide circulation, and it is unclear if she would have read it; the Clinton campaign did not address questions about the cable.

[Bill] wants know what State thinks of it if he took it 100% for the foundation, Desai wrote to several State Department staffers, including Hillarys closest aide Huma Abedin. Wed welcome your thoughts. Suffice it to say, the State Department shot the idea down.
A month earlier, Desai shot an email with the subject North Korea invite to three State Department staffers. Is it safe to assume [the U.S. Government] would have concerns about [Bill] accepting the attached invitation related to North Korea?
