Pope Francis sends letter praising gay children's book
The Guardian ^ | Aug. 28, 2015 | Rosie Scammell

Italian book that explores different family types including same sex was banned by mayor of Venice, but pontiff becomes unlikely supporter ... In the book, the egg encounters a pair of gay penguins, lesbian rabbits successfully bringing up a family, as well as other family models, including a single parent hippo, a mixed race dog couple, and kangaroos that have adopted polar bear cubs...

Now Pardi has found an unlikely supporter in Pope Francis, who through his staff has written to the author praising her work. “His holiness is grateful for the thoughtful gesture and for the feelings which it evoked, hoping for an always more fruitful activity in the service of young generations and the spread of genuine human and Christian values,” wrote Peter B Wells, a senior official at the Vatican secretariat of state.

The letter, dated 9 July and recently seen by the Guardian, was a response to a parcel of children’s books sent by Pardi to the pontiff in June. The collection from her publisher, Lo Stampatello, including seven or eight books which deal with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues (LGBT), was accompanied by a heartfelt letter from the author describing the attacks she has come under in recent months. ...

Mt. Athos, you didn't have to tel me you aren't a Catholic. That has been quite obvious to me.

In the letter of response Monsignor Peter B. Wells wrote that "His Holiness is grateful for the delicate gesture and for the sentiments that I have suggested," and "calls for a more profitable activity in the service of the young generations and the spread of authentic human values and Christians', imparting the apostolic blessing."

Francis' Vatican seems blind to the contradiction of sending the author of homosexual books encouragement to "go ahead," along with an exhortation to spread authentic human and Christian values. Here again we see the modernist confusion: what is affirmed in one place is denied in another.

The press office claimed the letter to Francesca Pardi, in response to a letter from her to the Pope after Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro banned 'gay' books from the city's schools, was meant to remain private, something which “unfortunately did not happen.”

Il Giornale, however, notes that Pardi received a warm, encouraging letter from Francis’ Vatican. Yet the Mayor of Venice who banned these books, received no such letter of congratulations.

Mayor Brugnaro, Il Giornale notes, is “too much in line with Tradition.”

“The review of the “banned books” by Venice’s mayor sparked outrage among gay and human rights groups, with sometimes Venice resident Elton John calling Brugnaro “boorishly bigoted.”

“He (Pope Francis) is a compassionate, loving man who wants everybody to be included in the love of God,” he (Elton John) said of Pope Francis. “It is formidable what he is trying to do against many, many people in the church that opposes. He is courageous and he is fearless, and that’s what we need in the world today… Make him a saint already, ok?”, Elton John.

You’ve made some bad assumptions here.

Not one statement in post 156 is an assumption. They are all factual. And you cannot refute the Truth. Oh, I forgot, you're not Roman Catholic.

They don’t need to leave the Catholic Church. The just need to ignore the current Pope.

It’s amazing and funny that a few out of context words from a generic form letter response to a gift can get you to say so many untrue things.

You are not being very discerning of the truth in this case.

I believe most of your misstatements are innocent due to being misled by fraudulent news articles with lying titles and inaccurate characterizations.

For example, how would you know that the author of the books withdrew the claim that the letter from the vatican said “go ahead”.

But I noticed you posted a fraudulent quote from the pope, freepers called you out on it repeatedly but you made no correction and did not respond.

So there again you have shown a lack of discernment when it comes to the truth, and are going about spreading misinformation.

Here is the phony false quote you posted in message #42:

The amazing thing is that you posted a picture of a quote from an article explaining that the quote was not true at all.

Here’s the link to the article you got the pic from:

“For example, how would you know that the author of the books withdrew the claim that the letter from the vatican said “go ahead”.”

Because the actual letter said “go ahead”. Can you not read?

Did the pope just endorse a gay children’s book? Of course not, says Vatican

In a press release that Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi sent to LifeSiteNews on Friday, the vice speaker of the Vatican, Ciro Benedettini, made clear that the friendly reply letter to the author in no way approves of attitudes or positions that are contrary to Catholic teaching and the Gospels.

The Vatican's statement also says that in the original letter from the secretariat of state Wells merely "acknowledged receipt" of the materials sent by Pardi, and also made clear that the letter was private and not meant for publication.

"In no way does a letter from the Secretary of State intend to endorse behaviors and teachings not in keeping with the Gospel," says the statement, decrying the "manipulation" of the letter.

Benedettini said the blessing of the pope at the end of the letter was meant to be for the author herself, and not to affirm positions concerning gender theory that are contrary to the Church's teaching. Using the letter to this end is erroneous, he said.

Pope Francis has strongly condemned the notion of “gender theory” on numerous occasions, saying that it is an “error of the human mind that leads to so much confusion.”

The problem with Pope Francis is that his off-the-cuff style lends itself to great inconsistency.

That may be--when he's speaking to individuals and concrete situations he's not making systematic statements, in contrast to the style of Pope Benedict; but he's been consistent on opposing the homosexual agenda, and in this case, this letter sounds like it was a routine acknowledgment of receipt rather than one of his off-the-cuff statements, and the left-wing Guardian spun it into something bigger than it was.

That’s what holds them back from leaving. One of them has said as much.

Benedict was blackmailed into resigning?

>> Benedict was blackmailed into resigning? <<

"Obviously", he is resigning because he is "gravely ill" and "will likely pass away within a few weeks" and I'm a "fool" if I can't tell how "sickly" he's been lately.

So said numerous freepers, none of whom have apologized to me or admitted they were wrong with the "Benedict XVI is dying" explanation.

Several theories. The Italian and European press covered this much better than our lame media.

Did a Gay Blackmail Scandal Bring Down Pope Benedict? The pope's abrupt retirement gets stranger. Now, an Italian newspaper alleges corruption at the Vatican.

Personally, I don't think Benedict was forced out because other Vatical officials were homosexual. Why would he resign for that? Just fire them.

I think he was right in the middle of that sin with his own depraved acts. Now we have Jorge Francis, who by his own words, actions, and now raw grab for global power (Agenda 23 announcement this month at the UN, call for New World Government, etc) is exposed as a tool of the Evil One.
