Father Of Slain Reporter Pledges That Gun Control Will Be ‘Alison’s Legaicy'
The Politistick ^ | 8/27/15 | GREG CAMPBELL

Posted on 08/27/2015 2:40:13 PM PDT by Impala64ssa

America is still reeling from the on-air execution of Alison Parker and Adam Ward. While doing their jobs, both were slain by a devout racist and former colleague of their. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at PolitiStick go out to the families of these victims. It’s a senseless crime and it’s natural to try and make sense of such heinousness. The shooter, a homosexual black man, authored a 23-page manifesto clearly explaining his racial motivations for killing the two straight white people. And though America became engulfed in a rage of race-obsessed hysteria after the Dylann roof shooting, few media outlets have shined a light on the recent killings with the inverse motivations: where a black man killed white people out of racial hatred. Though this is galling, what is, perhaps, most disturbing is the already-begun crusade by Parker’s father to voice his support for gun control. With his daughter not even yet buried, Andy Parker appeared on Fox News with Parker’s fiancé, Chris Hurst, to parrot the left’s talking points surrounding our Second Amendment rights. “I’m not going to let this issue drop,” Parker said. “We’ve got to do something about crazy people getting guns.” “The problem that you guys have – and I know it’s the news business, and this is a big story – but next week, it isn’t going to be a story anymore and everybody’s going to forget it. But you mark my words, my mission in life – and I talked to the governor today. He called me, and I told him, ‘I’m going to do something, whatever it takes, to get gun legislation, to shame people, to shame legislators into doing something about closing loopholes in background checks and making sure crazy people don’t guns.’ And he said, ‘You go. I’m right there with you.’” Parker added, “This is not the last you’ve heard of me. This is Alison’s legacy that I want to make happen.” Of course, Mr. Parker has suffered an unimaginable tragedy and all should feel sorrow for the man who just lost his daughter. Still, however, deep and cutting his grief, it does not oblige me or any other American to offer our God-given, constitutionally-protected rights as a means of assuaging his bereavement. Parker, like so many members of murder victims, has succumbed to the left’s preposterous narrative that asserts that more laws will keep guns out of the hands of psychos. There are also laws on the books against murder. How has that worked out? The simple fact is that no law will change the malice some feel and that, not the gun, is the true root of murder. Both Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration have sounded-off on the tragedy to capitalize on the murders to further their anti-Second Amendment agendas. “We have got to do something about gun violence in America – and I will take it on,” Hillary said. “I believe we are smart enough, we are compassionate enough to figure out how to balance the legitimate Second Amendment rights with preventive measures and control measures so that whatever motivated this murderer, who eventually took his own life – we will not see more deaths, needless, senseless deaths.” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest echoed the sentiments, saying, “As you’ve heard me say in the past, this is another example of gun violence that is becoming all too common in communities large and small all across the United States. And while there is no piece of legislation that will end all violence in this country, there are some common sense things that only Congress can do that we know would have a tangible impact in reducing gun violence in this country. The president has long advocated Congress taking those steps, and the president continues to believe that they should do so.” As Rahm Emanuel advised, “Never let a serious crisis go to waste.” Instead of aimlessly following the playbook of Gabby Giffords or being used as a pawn by vultures like Michael Bloomberg or Barack Obama, Parker would do well to follow the lead of others who have suffered similar tragedies like Mark Mattioli, whose 6-year-old son James was murdered at Sandy Hook. Mattioli has pushed-back against assertions that the U.S. needs more gun laws and testified before a legislative task force assigned to review Connecticut’s gun laws, “I don’t care if you named it ‘James’ law,’ I don’t want [another law].” In 1999, Darrell Scott, the father of a victim at the Columbine High School shooting, testified before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime. He stated: “In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. “I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRAA – because I don’t believe that they are responsible for my daughter’s death. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel’s murder, I would be their strongest opponent. “When something as terrible as Columbine’s tragedy occurs – politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive law that continue to erode away our personal and private liberties.” “We do not need more restrictive law. [The shooters] would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. Political posturing and restrictive legislation are not the answers.” Mr. Parker’s grief is enormous, but we must fight him and others who dare to push for legislation beyond what the Constitution allows.

“And what gun control law exactly would have stopped him? Are they proposing to ban sales to black homosexuals?”

Exactly. Typical Leftist bait and switch. The murderer of his daughter went through all the background checks.

So his response? We need to extend the background checks to more people!! No connection to rationality or reality.

What he will never say, and where there is a clear connection, is that the media driven frenzy for more restrictions on Second Amendment rights, is linked to these sort of shootings. If the media had not made a super villan out of Root, this guy might never have felt validated to start a “race war”.

But the message that the media is responsible, at least in part, is assiduously stomped down, by the media.

That is what this meant.

HOWEVER, if she lived in state that permitted concealed carry without permit, he never could have gotten away with so much

So true...
I think if more conceal carried, fewer morons like this might think again...maybe.

Uh no it won’t. I am sorry for the man’s pain but his daughter’s tragic death does not Trump the rest of us from owning weapons. 90 million gun owners didn’t kill anybody yesterday.

“If I understand correctly, he bought the gun illegally.”

I heard he bought it totally legally. Passed whatever legal check there was and everything.

And just what would have been found in the shooters’ background that would have stopped him from getting a gun?

I’ll take the argument even further.

Let’s just say I wave my magic wand and all guns suddenly go away.

In this day and age, it’s a piece of cake to make your own weapons. And who are going to be more motivated to do just that? Criminals.

And then what recourse would law-abiding citizens have to defend themselves? Nothing.

Just saw an interview with the husband of the woman who was shot in the back. He said he does not blame the gun but the crazed person using the gun. Good for him!

But I think we would all do well to steer clear of the "mental case" or "mentally ill" angle to this story.

WADR, he was homosexual. Normal people are not homosexual. I don't care what the queers who took over the APA say, it is a mental illness.

homosexuality used to be classified as a mental illness.

Yes, until they got control of the board of the APA (American Psychiatric Association, IIRC).

OK -- that's fine. That actually makes my point even stronger.

Don't ever let a government use "mental illness" as a legal basis to prevent someone from buying a gun if the same government uses politically-based definitions of mental illness.
