Jeb Bush: Border Wall ‘Not Practical’

Republican Presidential Candidate and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush told a group at a Florida rally about his Texas border trip and explained why a border wall wouldn’t be practical or conservative. Bush returned to the friendly turf of the Sunshine State on Wednesday, with a town hall style meeting in Pensacola.

Pensacola is a solidly conservative town in the Florida panhandle. He spoke of his experience as the state’s former governor, but only answered a single question about the Border Crisis.

“I went to McAllen, Texas, in Hildago County, last week and met with the Mayors, the County Judge, and the Sheriff, right out of central casting with a big mustache, and these are good salt of the earth people who are concerned about their community,” Bush stated during the rally attended by Breitbart Texas....

I didn’t post leftist talking points. Perhaps you wouldn’t look so silly if you investigated the actual circumstances of the Texas-Mexico border before you made uninformed suggestions that show exactly how little you know about it.

I don’t think anyone is seriously talking about building a wall along the Rio Grande, the wall would be built from El Paso to San Diego.

The people who oppose the wall bring that up in order to discredit the entire idea, but that isn’t going to happen for exactly the reasons you cite. A 700 mile wall from El Paso to San Diego is not that difficult and doesn’t cut anyone off from any resource.

Of course he doesn’t think a wall would be practical, he wants to keep the border wide open.

Another not a winner is Christie, he was running his mouth this morning about the border and it was obvious he has not even done a 5 minute Google search about it. He said a wall or fence on the whole border wouldn’t work but we sure need to fence the populated areas. I hate to be the one to inform him but we forced Bush to do at least that much before Obama halted it. It was a pretty hot issue in the media at the time but Christie didn’t get the memo so it is easy to see how concerned he is about the border issues.

LOL...as if I’m involved in making the decision. You keep telling me to “inform myself”. I have. Israel had people blowing themselves up on a weekly basis. They built a wall. The killing STOPPED.

I’ve been to the border (in a number of locations), but I don’t think I’m some gift from God because of it. But I could see right across to Mexico. I’ve also been to the Great Wall in China, and believe it or not, it too goes through some pretty rugged (very rugged) terrain. You will NEVER convince me or virtually any other FReeper that the wall can’t be built on our southern border. As to whether it makes sense to build it on every mile of border - most of us don’t care, but prefer to play it safe and not leave any holes.
