Trump: George W. Bush’s Best Moment Was When An Iraqi Threw A Shoe At Him
Daily Caller ^ | 8/26/15 | Steve Guest

Posted on 08/26/2015 5:08:23 PM PDT by markomalley

Donald Trump believes the moment an Iraqi reporter thew a shoe at George W. Bush and Bush didn’t blink “may have been his best moment if you want to know the truth, that is very sad to say.”

Trump appearing on the Hugh Hewitt Show Wednesday stated that if Jorge Ramos, who interrupted Trump Tuesday “had a microphone, he would have blasted everyone out of the room” since he was “shouting so loud.”

Hugh Hewitt: Yeah what he did, it was not professional. I’ve been doing this for 25 years. It wasn’t professional, but it wasn’t professional for him and it was also very successful for you because of the way you handled it. And I was actually reminded, do you remember when the Iraqi threw the shoe at George W. Bush and he didn’t blink and he just carried on?…

Donald Trump: Yes.

Hewitt: That’s what it reminded me of and you see why?

Trump: Well that may have been his best moment if you want to know the truth, that is very sad to say. But the truth is, I didn’t think in terms of television. I just said you know, “Who is this guy that is screaming.” I don’t think… I think when you’re doing a lot of live television, you don’t necessarily think that you are on live television, but that was live all over the place. And I just thought it was inappropriate. The first thing I thought was it was really unfair because there was so many people, with good, sitting with their hands up, wanting to ask questions and this man was standing up and really shouting quite loud. Now you didn’t hear the extent of it because he did’t have a microphone. Had he had a microphone on and yet you still heard him because he was shouting so loud.

Hewitt: Yeah.

Trump: But if he had a microphone, he would have blasted everyone out of the room. So, it worked out fine. And it probably was good for him. And actually at the end, by the time we finished, I mean I did’t think he was such a bad guy. I’m glad I invited him back because I think maybe I would have been criticized if I didn’t invite him back because you know some people, you know the concept of getting him out, which people didn’t mind but I think they wanted him back. So it was an interesting evening, that I can tell you.

Sounds like he doesn’t like the Bushes very much.

Neither did this guy, and we know how that worked out, don't we??

Bush II could have been a truly, transformative (and I mean in the good way) President. If he would have attacked the Dems and his Leftist critics, if he would have completely annihilated Islamic extremists and sealed the borders shut immediately after 9/11, if he would have used his veto pen more often, he would have even surpassed Reagan.

Not sure if it's a good idea for Trump to go after GWB, as GWB isn't running and I at least respect him for his leadership after 9/11 and his support among the troops. But Bush really did piss away what could have been a legendary legacy.

“Sounds like he doesn’t like the Bushes very much.”

Neither do I and I voted for both of them twice.

Actually Dubya’s best moment was when he was in Indonesia or somewhere and they tried to keep the SS from coming in the dinner with him and he had to go back and jump in the crowd and drag the secret service guy through the security line. That was a thumbs up, fist bump moment.

This picture of Hillary reminds me of the wicked witch of the west, with her hands clasped as she tries to come up with her dastardly plans.

Headline gets it wrong. Trump wasn’t saying he enjoyed Bush getting a show thrown at him, but that it was Bush’s best moment on TV.

Wow, I completely missed that. But after checking the date, now I know why. After the elections that year, I think I spent about three months taking a break from the Internet. I was so burned out.

Secret Service should’ve killed the shoe-thrower after the first shoe. He should never have had a second chance.

More important, we had a very good base just to the west of Iran and in Afghanistan another one just to the east of Iran. We will need both when we invade, because you won’t take out the Iranian nukes by air.

Zero would have had a few chuckles from it.

Was it a breach of security, yes, but was I surprised by it, no.

If it had been a grenade, then the President of the United States would have been facing the same "green on green" attacks that U.S. troops had been facing over there for more than five years by that point. That sure would have been some poetic justice, eh?

And we had that sumbitch war won when Zero came in and unraveled everything. Read Michael Yon’s war memos.

No, we didn't. Nobody ever defined what "victory" meant, so we just left a house of cards behind and got the hell out. It was Bush, not Obama, who signed the Status of Forces Agreement that laid out the time line for the withdrawal of U.S. forces. In fact, I believe the December 2008 shoe-throwing incident took place at an event staged in Iraq to commemorate that agreement.

"I think for us to get American military personnel involved in a civil war inside Iraq would literally be a quagmire."

"I do not think the United States wants to have U.S. military forces accept casualties and accept the responsibility of trying to govern Iraq. I think it makes no sense at all."

--- U.S. Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney (April 7, 1991)

You weren’t surprised that the security team of the President of the US (no matter who it is) would allow someone in a closed room to throw an object at the POTUS? I think it’s outrageous. They all should have been fired. The man should have been shot. It could have been a grenade.

If you do some research, you will understand why Ross Perot didn’t like GHWB. Ross was working for President Reagan in charge of something to do with the POWs and MIAs. GHWB stabbed him in the back over something to do with that appointment. I can’t remember the specifics right now, but, it had something to do with that.

Screw Trump. Evidently he was golfing while Bush was on the ruins of the twin towers with the first responders.
