If they really want to end these crimes, they should destroy the fax, without revealing the contents.
Murder should not be a path to being published, rather, it should be a path to anonymity.
It's tough, when ratings are such a draw. It bleeds it leads etc.
This horror will never end, especially when perpetrator fame is a byproduct.

I think a policy that might have some chance of working would be to report the news, but never mention the perp by name. Give them some sort of id number or something. That would satisfy (99% at least) the public’s interest in knowing what was going on, would avoid problems with censorship, but would thwart the perp if he was going for fame and glory. I’d like to see the names of these guys disappear down the rabbit hole as if they never existed instead of becoming news, or worse yet, history.
