Suspect called 'difficult to work with'
Police in Moneta, Virginia, said a shooter fired at a WDBJ-TV media crew in the middle of their live shot at Bridgewater Plaza, killing the cameraman and correspondent and fleeing the scene.
Multiple outlets reported the suspect shot himself, but police haven’t yet confirmed.
The Associated Press, citing police, released the suspect’s name as Vester Lee Flanagan II, age 41, of Roanoke. But he went by another name while working as a reporter at that station, as well as ones in North Carolina and Texas: Brice Williams.
Officials with the ATF and FBI are looking at the suspect’s social media accounts, which have been suspended, to determine his mental state and background. Various sources say he was targeting his victims, however.
Killed were Alison Parker and Adam Ward. Parker, the on-camera journalist, was 24; Ward, the photographer, was 27. A third victim, who was being interviewed – Vicki Gardner, head of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce – was shot in the back and is undergoing surgery at a nearby hospital, Fox News reported.

Followed the crew broadcast truck departing the station? Simplest probable. But good question if he would have to know which truck for which remote crew team, specifically. So, maybe he has a “friend” working there still.
Earlier, the station said the crew had been broadcasting off and on from the lake since 5am...so the killer likely just saw the “opportunity” on his television.

I was wondering that too the first time I saw it. How was their peripheral vision that bad to not see someone standing 5 feet or less from them and not see a gun pointing at the newswoman and then pointing at her again 10-15 seconds later. Very odd to say the least.
So did that news channel 7 use the killer’s footage of the events in the picture or the footage from their own cameraman? It would be irony if they used the killer’s own cell phone footage in their story of the death of 2 of their employees.
Also we see the reporter fleeing from the gunman Bryce I think after 2 or 3 shots. Did he miss at point blank range and then shoot her in the back? The details in the story don’t really get specific.
I watched the raw footage shot by the scum bag on live leak. After being initially stunned and/or horrified, my next thought was either she was not hit or the 9mm round is not effective, at least not all the time.
She takes off at a full gallop and does not seem impaired at all.
