He voted twice for President Barack Obama. He watches as Donald Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, berates the president on a near-daily basis.

And yet, he's considering voting for Donald Trump.

"He has a history of getting the job done. We need someone as president who can get the job done, and I feel that he’s not afraid to take on the challenges," he said.

He is one Republican voter out of 29 that participated in a focus group Monday conducted by pollster Frank Luntz.

“Trump is sticking up for the American people, something none of the others have done when it comes to immigration.”

Bingo! The others are beholden to the Immigration Express for their campaign money. For many years now they give lip service to the American public and time after time once elected all that goes out the window, and then they throw the very people who voted them into office under the bus. Trump doesn’t need or want money from the Chamber of Illegal Immigrants or those associated with them.

We have been, and going to hear, either or both:

1. He has peaked.
2. He has “jumped the shark”.

It is wishful thinking. It may be correct some day. Perhaps when he approaches 65% in the primary poll.

Until then, there is no reason to think either is true.

People who voted Obama and now want Trump have no core political values. They have not researched and thought through the issues, come to their personal decisions and then found politicians who endorse those decisions. They are the fickle middle. Nominating someone with the tremendous name recognition of Trump will garner their support. I’m not saying that’s a positive or negative, just that it *is*.

The culture has been Kardashian-ed.

In fact Kim could be our president after eight years of Trump.

This man reminds me of a voter I met in 1992, while our Republican Committee was going door-to-door to try to defeat Bill Clinton.

We rang the doorbell of a tidy, modest home, and a friendly guy came out and talked to us. He wasn't sure he liked Bill Clinton, but he wasn't sure he would be willing to vote for GHWBush either.

He told us, and I quote, that he would only "vote for someone like either Ronald Reagan or JFK."

So it was a charisma thing. Voters like this don't vote on issues -- they only vote for someone who projects a supremely confident and forceful personality.

Because they’re low information voters. It’s why anyone would vote for Obama twice, no vetting process.

A Republican voter that twice voted for obama? How many of those were in the 29 member Republican control group? Where would you find such an individual? would he even qualify as a rino?

“A socialist is a socialist... A narcissist is a narcissist. Trump is the new Obama. It makes total sense.”

Yes, let’s replace the guy that rules by illegal executive orders and fiats with another guy who wants to rule by illegal executive orders and fiats. I want a Conservative Leader that will abide by and respect the Constitution.

This sudden rise of Donald Trump is nothing new. Through the ages the cult of personality forms around a assertive, narcissistic person who declares a solution to a difficult problem. The instinct to follow the herd is strong in most people.

Highly educated Germans followed a bold leader over the cliff.

Hard working, family oriented Italians followed their leader into war.

Religious Venezuelans hoping to improve their lives voted in a dictator.

Ordinary Americans filled with dreams of hope and change voted for an image, not a man.

In advertising and politics image is everything. It's disturbing to find the herd mentality on Freerepublic.

Not surprised, when you have two political parties that pretty much have become a new “uniparty”.

Also not much alternates out there, that is another reason for interest in Mr. Trump.

If this were FB I’d give you a thumbs up. I’ve never liked Trump or never watched his show but, by golly, I’m enjoying the heck out of him now!
